It's gone midnight and they're playing throbbing techno music to the tune of a large house party. No warning. What really is grinding my gears is that they are reeking of skunk and it's invading my house. I'm not prude but I draw the line at being forced to inhale hallucinogens.

Sorry, auto-correct. Not riding my gears, grinding them. It's nigh on 1AM and the party is still in full swing! I wouldn't have cared so much had they slipped us a note. We have two dogs who don't sleep until everyone else is asleep!

I totally understand your frustration. While we were waiting for our home to be built, the home we rented had one of "those" neighbors. About one weekend a month, they had a large party with several overnight guests. Their music would vibrate our walls from very early morning to very late at night. It wasn't all day though. They were usually kind enough to take a break from the partying midday. I hope you get some rest soon.

They packed it in at 4AM last night. I think they've spend most of today asleep or stoned or whatever.

Do you not have a noise ordinance where you live? If it was that bad, you could have called the cops. Or mow the lawn early AM, use the trimmer & leaf blower, saw something & spend the day outside with your favorite music volume on high.

One time we had a neighbor who played their music so incredibly loud we could hear it in the house with all our windows shut. During the day, there's really nothing that can be done, but I used to go out on our deck with a boombox and blast kids' songs (like Barney songs) as loud as I could. They got the message At night, we have a noise ordinance in place, so we just call the police. Luckily (knock on wood) we have pretty quiet neighbors right now.

Our neighbor plays drums to music. It's the right volume where we can hear it easily with windows open, but if windows are closed or TV is on we really can't hear it. Stops at a reasonable time. And still another neighbor complains about it. Not only does it not bother me, I actually like it. Helps that he is middle aged so he it's good music...

Ditto. I don't mind when our next door neighbor plays the drums and their high school student was always practicing the sax when he lived there. He sounded pretty good so I don't mind it. They are usually practicing in the evenings and not too late.

In high school my brother had a seasonal lawn mowing business that I would help him with when able. We were fast and could get an average size lawn done in 20 minutes. One of the lawns we mowed each week was a classmate of mine. She was an absolutely wretched human being. Their lawn was always 1st thing on Saturday AM and I would always start the mower outside her window. Repeatedly.
