Current work at the Fort

I wish they had, too. It's more than obvious now that they intend it to be part of FW, not an extension of WL. Makes me very sad.

Well sure. The closer to an existing resort, the more guests will use THAT resort's transportation, amenities, and dining (meaning lower HOA costs for the time share).

If it was out between FW and WL, it would have to carry near ALL its own costs in its HOA maintenance dues which would concern the owners at the annual meeting.

Ps - and yeah i know its not technically an HOA but the point is the same.:teacher:

Maybe on purpose. To be near the cabins. Cabins and new hotel sold as a new DVC package?

I recall someone from this board posting that idea on one of the DIS DVC boards back in early February of last year. The FW Cabins and the new time share could "pool" their points (and thus maintenance fees).

Guess we'll have to wait until they're ready to start selling the new time share behind Pioneer Hall to find out for sure (which could still be a while) after they make some marketing type announcements.

Ed

PS - still curious about how much of the eyesore will be DVC and how much (if any) will be standard hotel rooms (what the mix will be).

If that's the case, @StormyCA, that big ol' diggin' hole will fill up with water about 12" down, maybe less. The canal nearby likely has the nearby water table at that very level.

If that's the case, that is (I'm not certain that's it).

But there will likely be some surface prep for the building footings, etc.

Ed

Maybe they'll just dig the hole, let it fill with 'swamp water' and call it good. After all, 'that place' will have its own biggerer, betterer pool so why worry about us campers?

I never thought about pool construction & water tables. Guess I'm off to Google and down a rabbit hole on 'why doesn't a high water table make a pool float like a boat?'.
