Current work at the Fort

As of this morning you can not enter the Meadow recreation area from the bridge across from the 1500 bus stop.

On my ride I saw someone in a golf cart disregard the sign posted at the golf cart path only to be stopped by a chain across the path.

I went down to 1400 loop to get to the pool area and found other folks in golf carts turning around because they were confused by the signs by the campfire area which state no carts allowed.

These pine trees have pink ribbons on them.

And there are 2 big oaks which have white ribbons.

Allie, I missed the fact that you were in 1500 over Easter. Was that your first time in that loop? Most times when I've met you or read your trip reports, it always sounded to me like you were in 2000. If not the first time, how did it compare? Specifically which site in 1500?

PS - don't mean to pivot this thread but just asking a quick aside.
In over 25 visits, this is just the 3rd time in 1500 and I LOVE it. We had 1515 in the inside of the loop but it was huge and shady and the wooded center was perfect to hang out. The location can't be beat but I do think it might be impacted by construction noise when they start work at the Meadows since there's nothing to absorb the noise in between.

And there are stop signs on both sides of a crosswalk from the campfire to the food truck, because that’s now the golf cart pathway.

The 1400 loop is going to be noisy for sure, all golf carts have to enter and exit the Meadows using the 1400 loop. Not to mention bike riders and pedestrian traffic. But they’ll go left when entering the loop, golf carts must make the whole loop to the right.

I just spoke with a site cleaner today, I asked why 1300 is more than half empty, they said they don’t want to put anyone in a site close to the Meadow area where the construction will be. They are concerned about noise complaints from guests who may be assigned those sites.

I was told the construction is for a new pool, I’m not sure if that’s true, but 🤞.

I was also told that 1100 loop should reopen today or tomorrow.

I'd think that if it's a new pool we'll know relatively soon. Kinda hard to 'disguise' diggers digging a big ol' hole in the ground.

If that's the case, @StormyCA, that big ol' diggin' hole will fill up with water about 12" down, maybe less. The canal nearby likely has the nearby water table at that very level.

If that's the case, that is (I'm not certain that's it).

But there will likely be some surface prep for the building footings, etc.

Today’s photos of the monstrosity.

I met some really nice folks while waiting for the MK boat, they are also very distressed by what is happening at FW. They were nice enough to give me this coin that they made.

The scrum around the former Clementine’s Beach has this on it, very ironic if you ask me.

And here is a photo of the sign for “Clemintine’s” Beach. I really have to wonder if this was a mistake and none of the higher ups have caught it or was it intentional?
