Current work at the Fort

I was actually shocked (don’t know why I should be, but still) at how close the construction is to TE. Seeing this, I have little doubt that the HDD and TE building will torn down.

Some years ago, my DH read that property near the Fort had been purchased, the theory being that camp sites would eventually be added. I haven’t heard a single thing about that since, so I don’t know if that was scrapped as well, or if it was just scuttlebutt. We also (pre shutdown) had a bus driver tell us that they were going to tear down the HDD and TE building because of its aging infrastructure. This was before the desecration that’s going on next door was ever announced.

Anyway, pictures were taken today (May 6, 2025)

What order do the buses go that take the cabin guests to the outpost to go to the parks?

I haven't seen an answer to this question so I will attempt an answer (and rely on the readers to correct me when I screw it up  ).

Internal Fort busses run back-and-forth between the Outpost Bus Depot (up by check-in with external bus connections to all parks not named MK and ancillary points like Disney Springs, Typhoon Lagoon, etc.). The Settlement Bus Depot down near Pioneer Hall/Bay Lake has the bus to MK. Period.

There are 3 bus lines (Orange, Yellow, Purple) with historically consistent routes internal to the Fort as shown on this map:

Yellow runs through the east side, Orange goes through the cabins and down the middle, Purple goes through the cabins on the west side - these go in both directions.

It's too simplistic to say that the rotation is always Y-O-P <repeat> or such as that. Busses start at 630am in each direction on each line but they are NOT frequent at that early hour. I would say by 8a or 9a they are on their daily schedule but there is no rhyme or reason or set schedule as to when you can expect a bus to come by. It's not like tracking an Amazon package through various cities on its way to delivery at your house - it's like 'I ordered this out of the Sear's catalog' and then it appears a couple days later at your home <whenever THAT might be>.

I will say that there are early internal busses through the campsites and busses from the Settlement and Outpost to make connections with to the parks for rope drop and even Early Entry. But no one knows when those will come. Either one. But it DOES happen every morning.
:tinker:

Your options are: be at your internal bus stop before 7a (I don't go to the parks 1st day generally) so I watch when the first internal bus in each direction comes by my loop. Or rent a golf cart to carry you to Outpost (expensive taxi - I don't do this) to catch the first park bus (tv screens show next arriving bus for each park at Outpost). Or drive to the parks not named MK (what we do).

I thought maybe it was like our last year’s resort (OKW) where there was a set bus stop route order each day. I guess we just have to wait for the internal bus going in the right direction to Outpost or risk riding through the whole campground and back around again. We are considering a golf cart rental, but then we thought if we get lucky with a cabin close to the Outpost, we could just walk to the external bus stop, so not sure what to do there.

You can do a DVC cabin rental close to the Outpost. Request a cabin in loops 2700 or 2800 (they share a loop entrance and a bus stop). See the map above.

Those two loops are the closest to the Outpost Bus Depot (within easy walking distance). Those two loops are popular with runners who come to WDW for runDisney races (like the Marathon Weekend in early January) because they can walk up to Outpost to catch a bus to the Epcot start race area (I did this 8x as recently as Nov 24).

Up to you, @Dakota731 , but if you want to be in control, you can walk to/from Outpost easily. Sure you might have an internal bus pull up right away for you. But then again you may not. But it's a nice shady walk. You've been informed.

Minnie Vans can pick you up right at your cabin if you want to travel to the parks that way.

We requested a cabin in the 2800 loop since we don’t mind walking. But we have made requests before and have received nothing close to our wishes, so we will see. Though I think the kids would be thrilled with taking a golf cart to the pool etc lol.
