Current Rates?

There’s another site that has a nice chart that lists all of them along with use year and current fees, but I’m not sure if allowed to post the link to it.

Wow, those charts make me feel like a real estate genius, LOL. We bought VGC the year it was released for in the mid-90s with incentives. I can't believe direct pricing is $310 and so much above the other resorts. Our dues seem to be the cheapest as well. Who would have thought I could make money off a timeshare. It's even more of a "deal" considering the prices of standard rooms at the hotel. Last time I looked it was in the $1000 per night range w/taxes. Crazy!

Makes you wonder if we should all purchase a few points at Disneyland Tower just for the future. I only go every 4 or 5 years to Disneyland, so it wouldn't be worth it for me. But I can dream, right?

It does make you think, doesn't it? I suspect the prices will be crazy though, and they don't have the direct park access, which is what makes VGC so special. But I will definitely be checking them out when they have the models ready to go.

I still don't get the huge allure of direct access to DCA. I mean, if you're there for 4 or 5 days, are you really jumping into DCA that often? Disneyland is still the main gate, and the walk through DTD from VGC isn't much more than a 5 minute time savings at best over coming in from DLH. If you opt for the Monorail, then it's a wash. The only advantage MIGHT be a shorter wait at security. As an Anaheim local and former 10+ year cast member, I just don't see why you'd opt for VGC if direct access to the lesser of two parks is the prime motivation.

Different strokes, but it does seem to be an allure for a lot of people as that's a common comment about why people stay (and pay the exorbitant rates) at the hotel (or DVC). For us, we loved the ability to hop back and forth to the room when our kids were young, and as we have a special needs son we still do it. The park reservation system has definitely cut down on the morning gate usage, but we still start one or two days at CA adventure where it comes in handy. We actually love CA Adventure--screamer, guardians and soaring are some of my favorite Disney rides so we spend quite a bit of time there. I've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel off and on over the past almost 45+ years (ouch!), including right before the shut down when we went last minute, and it is not nearly as easy to go back to the room, etc. If you haven't stayed at the Grand before, you might be surprised at how convenient it is. But if you don't go back to the room during the day, etc. you might not value that.

I totally get the ease with which you can get into DCA, it just seems like it's a one and done kinda thing (or even once a trip), which I suppose is better than a none and done. I've stayed at Grand Cal around two dozen times cash, and 3 times now as a DVC owner. I love the hotel. I've even stayed there for conferences at DLH, when I live 20 minutes from the park and just wanted a staycation. Probably also stayed at DLH 40 or 50 times, starting as a kid back in the 70's doing exactly what you said you like to do - heading back to the hotel midday to rest or get something to eat. For that purpose, VGC probably works better for both parks. Unless, you factor in the Monorail for DLH (maybe). Anyway, I like DCA, don't get me wrong, but it will always be the "second park" for me.

As you said, different stroke for different folks.

You can actually use the special gate even if you are staying at Disneyland Hotel (or at least you could pre-COVID). There's just something about Disneyland Hotel, but the walk does seem like it's far (probably because of the layout of Downtown Disney, the crowds and having to walk around the pool area at DLH). I've only stayed at DLH once in Fantasy Tower and my entire family complained every night when we left the park. The monorail was never running in the afternoon or night during the summer we were there. The attendants said it didn't have air conditioner and they couldn't run it over a certain temperature (we found this hilarious because 88 to them was hot).

Looks like DLH is roughly 1/2 mile from the Esplanade (very similar to Contemporary/MK) and Grand Cal is around 1000 feet or so.

I do wonder if the "Disneylandforward" project is just fluff and more to do with taxes and property rights than expansion. But if it actually comes to fruition, DLH DVC could actually be a worthwhile "investment." The concept art shows DLH directly in the middle of the expansion.

Was just going to suggest the same. I mean it's definitely fluff right now, but in a 50 year purchase timeframe I feel more confident that one or both parks will stretch that direction.

I can only speak from experience of my 2 kids. They loved being able to be swimming,,,jump out of the pool and jump on Grizzly River Run. They would ride that around and around get soaked then come back to us. Cant do that anywhere else. Is it worth the extra,,,no,,but we are DVC and so it was no extra, but a perk that no other DVC has. Plus I was able to do morning yoga in the park as a perk, and it was right below our room so the wife could have our coffee and laugh at me as I tried to stretch out in the am. Again not available at any other DVC.
