Can someone tell me what the current promotion is? We have rented points and are now considering buying. We will be at WDW in Oct and hope to take a tour, but just wondering what the current promotion is.

Thanks!
Susan

I bought last week and the promo is:

$8 off AKV, $10 off SSR or Single developer points. Also if you are a Disney Visa card holder (you have to have had a Disney Visa acct. before 9/1/07), you get $500 Disney Rewards Dollars!

Currently they are offering a cash discount or double developer points.

Is there a minimum for an add-on for the Reward Dollars? This would be great!

Gosh, I think my guide told me you had to buy 160 pts. to earn the $500, because we added on 65 pts. and it did not apply to us.

Thanks CarolinesMom!

Disney just called me because I viewed their DVD on-line and are going to send me additional information. I have some other questions for you. Would the price per point at SSR then be 91 a point? Does Disney have closing costs?

I'm looking to buy into SSR and am debating over buying direct or going re-sale. I don't know if Disney will negotiate to make it as appealing (in cost) as re-sale. Since you just bought, what are your thoughts? Is Disney into some serious negotiating? ;)

This is AGONIZING!!

DH will never go for 160 more points:sad2:
Still hoping to get another add-on when we go down in October. Thought the $500 reward dollars would help convince him.

The price is $104 per point, but SSR has a current incentive of $10 off per point (AKV is $8 off per point). Disney cannot and will not negotiate their prices in order to make it fair for everyone. (Trust me we tried). There are closing cost. Since we paid cash, it was $235.40. I am not positive, but I think its less if you finance. For me, I wanted AKV so resale was not an option. Also, the $500 Disney Rewards dollars was a nice bonus since I just knew about the $8 off.

We were told on Saturday that if you buy 200 points, you get $ off per point and they will give you the equivalent # of points purchased to be used in the first 12 months.

Also, people with APs can get some signed lithograph of Sorcerer Mickey and 2 AP's to either WDW or DLR.

Now with the feds lowering the interest rate 1/2 percent, how long is it before its reflected in the financing of DVC? Would like to also take advantage of this too!!

Do I have this right?: 200+ points = $8 off at AKV, and an extra set of (developer?) points, and 2 WDW APs (if one is a current APholder), and $500 reward dollars if the deposit is made on a Disney Visa???

If so, this might be the discount I have been waiting for! :cool1:

Can anyone else confirm all this?

Thanks as always for the info and expertise!

I'm with you! If this is right, then we may have to add on quite a few more points than we planned. Can one have too many points?:)

If you'd like, I can PM you the guide's name/# and you can call and confirm with him. I've heard that DVC's fiscal year runs from September to September so they like to tack on the perks now so they can shore up their bottom line.

I just spoke with a guide because we are looking to purchase before the end of the year. I was told that the current promotion is $8 off per point or developer points to be used within the first 12 months. Nothing was mentioned about the Visa $500(which we have) or the promotion that was mentioned earlier in this thread.

I figured all guides would offer the same promotion. We were planning to buy in Dec., but when I saw the offer mentioned in this thread, that was enough to make us buy now.

Does anyone know why there would be two very different offers?:confused3

We tried negotiating and they wouldn't budge. We ended up buying resale last October.

They are giving away APs? And they are giving a $500 Reward Card? I think that I am confused!

We bought 210 pts at SSR on 9/13/07 w/Mar UY.

Closing costs were around $325.00

Incentives offered after tour were:
$10 per pt discount OR single developer points equivalent to 1 yr.
2006 & 2007 points (all bankable & no maintenance fee on the 2006 points).
$500 Disney Dream Reward Dollars & 0% interest on downpayment for 6 months. I had the Disney Rewards brochure sent by mail w/our PIN number on it. DVC applied it and all is good (now just need to figure out what I can buy with it.......4ea FASTPASS instant cards (each gave 2 instant FASTPASSES)
1ea DVC Bag.

That was it. Free AP's would have been welcome.........but oh well, we ended up with a boatload of points for 2008 :cheer2:

and were NOT offered the Disney Visa Promotion. I just called back our guide and left him a message. We also were offered the $8.00 a point or a one time points match equal to the number of points purchased.

Provided you had your Disney Rewards Visa prior to Sep 1 & used your card to make the downpayment, all you have to do is wait for your brochure w/the offer to come in the mail. It has a castle on the cover and says "How many stones did it take to build Cinderella's Castle".

On your address label there is an 8 digit number. Call your DVC Guide and he will input this number in the system. This will then be communicated to Chase and voila! 500 Disney Dream Reward dollars! You have until sometime in November to make this happen.

This worked for me.
