Could anyone tell me what the current point price is for SSR, and what (if any) incentive is being offered? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Erica

It depends on whether you are a current DVC owner or not.

If not, the price is $98 with an incentive of $8, for a net of $90, and no 2005 maintenance fees.

If you are a current owner adding on, until June 19, the price is $95-$8 = $87, also with no maintenance fees for 2005, plus 100 free one-time points. The 100 free points go to your original contract, so if that is other than SSR, they would be points at that home resort.

Wow- that's pretty good. And what's the minimum number of points you can add to get this offer? 100?

Thanks!

Ooops, sorry. That 100 point bonus is only for add-ons of 120 or more points.

What about the price per point for the other resorts? For current owners as well as non-owners? I guess that's the price that hasn't gone up yet, but will by next week?

The price for other resorts is currently $92 (up from $89 a week ago) with no incentives being offered. You also may have to go on a waiting list as DVC does not willingly maintain an inventory of points at the sold-out resorts. Points at the Beach Club, Boardwalk and Wilderness Lodge are particularly hard to come by.

Also note that regardless of when you buy, how many points or any other factor, a contract at Saratoga Springs runs through January 31, 2054. For all of the other resorts the contracts end on January 31, 2042. With SSR you get 12 more years of ownership.

According to our rep yesterday, the price is $89 until the 19th and they will "lock-in" that price until the end of June. On the 20th, the price goes to $92 (unless you "locked-in" where your points will need to be available by the end of June when the price goes up to $92 regardless). If you have a UY later in the year, you will get the benefit of 2004 and 2005 points with prorated 2005 dues (half year in this case). Of course your points need to be available but maybe...

I don't think the benefit of UY's later in the calendar year is discussed enough. When adding-on you often will get an extra year of points without dues as compared with UY's earlier in the year.

I was just told I got points for BWV as a new/1st time purchase. What use year would be better or worse. I was always confused about the use year stuff.
Thanks

If you travel the same time of the year every year, it is best to have your UY somewhat before this time. That way you are making reservations early in your use year and can take advantage of banking deadlines and avoid problems if you need to cancel. However, if not, I would go with one later in the year. If you are getting BWV points through DVC, you will get 2004 points for September UY and only 2005 points for a March UY for example. Of course, you might have some trouble using the 2004 points at this late date but you can always rent them and there is no dues on 2004 points! 2005 dues is based on calendar month so no UY consideration there. The only downside is that you will have less time to use the 2041 points later in the year (assuming they don't allow borrowing then).

Do you know after what use year would 04 points no longer be available and couldn't you just bank the 04 points? Where would you be caught losing points?

If your UY is August, for example, you would still get the 2004 points but you would only have until July 31st to use them. This might still be valuable to you or someone you rent to but it's too late to bank these now. If December UY, you would have more options including banking up to 50% of the points (too late to bank 100% I believe). Of course, going through DVC for the contract, you likely don't have many UY's to select from at a sold out resort. Depends on what they have available. But it is a consideration.
