Awesome! Thanks for the info!!!Still add on pricing even if requesting a new use year.

Thats what im having now. FOMO as I only have resale points. Still hard to swallow the direct prices especially given the current resale prices. With the magical beginnings promo and the incentives right now the delta between direct and resale (for VGF at least) is not that bad. I also was thinking on waiting for Poly 2 but Im scared of what their initial pricing will be. I still need to convince my hubby as wellI briefly mentioned buying more VGF instead of waiting for Poly2 this morning. He listened and didn’t immediately say no. I was going to work on my convincing facts all day and convince him tonight. Went back to read this thread again. Didn’t realize you still had to buy 150pts as one contract to get the $22pp off 2022 pts. I don’t want 150 in one contract.
Oh well. Guess we are back to waiting for Poly2 or a great deal to pop up on Copper Creek. We don’t have a blue card and I always have FOMO that we don’t so would love to have it sooner than later.
Yes, exactly.I need to stay off this thread. I would love to add another 150pts at VGF vs waiting for Poly2. I wish they allowed this for 100pts. I would buy for sure. Dh would think I was crazy if mentioned adding on again this soon. I swore when I added on at VGF in Dec, no more points until Poly 2. I wish they had this deal back when I bought in Dec. I would have bought more points back then.
Yep. I don’t want a contract as high as 150 either. So that requirement eliminated the temptation. If I could break that into smaller contracts it might be a different story. DVC, are you paying attention?I briefly mentioned buying more VGF instead of waiting for Poly2 this morning. He listened and didn’t immediately say no. I just bought four 50 point contracts and qualified for the Magical Beginnings promotion.I briefly mentioned buying more VGF instead of waiting for Poly2 this morning. Really? Wow...time to call my guide!I just bought four 50 point contracts and qualified for the Magical Beginnings promotion.
Yep. Yesterday. AKL. My first direct points. I bought 200, but split them into four contracts of 50. Edited to add that the only requirement my guide said I had to meet was to put all four contracts under identical membership number and name.Really? Wow...time to call my guide!
Woah! Interesting!I just bought four 50 point contracts and qualified for the Magical Beginnings promotion.
Thank you for clarifying, also very helpful for me to know. On the one hand I really don’t NEED a 3rd use year, but I’ve always thought I would like to have an October UY…So long as they have the use year available to sell, they will happily let you choose whatever use year you'd like (even if you already have one). However, you must purchase at least one contract in a new use year that meets the minimum contract size requirement (currently 100 points); effectively you cannot "add-on" a contract under 100 points unless it's in your current use year. This is a moot point if you plan on using Magical Beginnings as it requires at least one of the contracts you purchase be 150 points in order to take advantage of Magical Beginnings.
I was told I could pick a new use year for AKL, do a contract of 150 points and another contract of 50 points and both take advantage of the 200 point pricing for AKL and use Magical Beginnings for all 200 points. I was told I could do contracts of 100/50/50 with a new use year and take advantage of the 200 point pricing for AKL but could NOT then use Magical Beginnings (because at least one contract would need to be for 150 points).
Just to clarify for others, only those who are already members can split contracts down that small. A new buyer has to keep at least one contract at 100 points.I just bought four 50 point contracts and qualified for the Magical Beginnings promotion.
Yes. This! I already owned a resale contract at Aulani.Just to clarify for others, only those who are already members can split contracts down that small. A new buyer has to keep at least one contract at 100 points.
But, if you own anything, even resale, as long as it is a true add on...same UY and owners...then they definitely allow the smaller ones!
If they sell back the current UY points, yes. So, if you have a Feb to April UY, you are selling them back your 2023 points. If you have a June to Dec UY, you are selling them back the 2022 UY points. So existing members who add on less than 100 points direct at any resort can get $22 off per point?????
Correct, I'm aware they're calendar year and not based on UY. And yeah my point was regarding the people who don't have their 2022 UY points available. It may be more worthwhile to simply wait until next year so you can get double points and not pay the prorated dues for 2023. Of course the argument for buying now is locking in the prices now as I imagine the price per point for VGF, AUL, and RIV will be 230 soon with VDH going on sale and they'll just put incentives on VGF, AUL, RIV to bring them back down to their original price if they want. But yeah it's not as much of a slam dunk case to buy now without those points.Dues are calendar year and not based on UY...everyone will pay 2023 dues, prorated from the date of purpose, regardless of what points you get and what you decide to do with them...keep or sell back.
Now, if what you point is that those who are still in their 2022 UY have an added benefit because they haven't yet started their 2023 UY...sure. But, the discount is still $22/point for selling back current UY points.
Even if one doesn't sell back points, those still within their 2022 UY are getting both 2022 and 2023 UY points today and pay the same 2023 dues that those with UY's that have begun the 2023 UY.
Its why guides try to frame it as getting "double" points and its not...its simply buying at a strategic time for UYs.
Do you recall how much the closing fee is they charge per extra contract? Or does anyone know what the extra fees are to split a 200 pt purchase in 4 contracts?I just bought four 50 point contracts and qualified for the Magical Beginnings promotion.
The Guide I spoke with said you needed a minimum of 150 pts to get the Magical Beginnings promo, but it does sound like you can split it up in smaller chunks if the total is 150 or more. If you needed less than 150 it might be worth asking to make sure she was correct about that minimum. So existing members still in their 2022 use year who add on less than 100 points direct at any resort can get $22 off per point?????
Yes and if VDH sells well they might increase all direct pricing to match that sooner eventhough they just increased them in December.Like a few others have commented..I was waiting for poly2 to buy direct, but now considering GF with this Magical Beginnings incentive. My concern with waiting is the direct price, even with incentives is going to be quite a bit higher than what GF is going for now. I do own a resale contract already. Anyone concur?
Prices always seem to go up, but now with the current incentives combined with $22/pt makes this cheaper than VGF has been in a while. So always possible later prices could be better for add-ons, but this is getting tough to pass up for larger # of add-ons. Increasing a purchase from 150 to 200 pts, that extra 50 pts comes out to $145/pt if you use the Magical Beginnings.Like a few others have commented..I was waiting for poly2 to buy direct, but now considering GF with this Magical Beginnings incentive. This is what I’m thinking.Yes and if VDH sells well they might increase all direct pricing to match that sooner eventhough they just increased them in December.
