I am confused about backdating and not sure how to make it work for me. We are planning to join
DVC and prefer SSR for the longer contract as well as the appeal of the resort itself. It seems best to go through Disney for SSR. I talked to a guide last week and as she discussed the package, she began to say, "We backdate," but then interrupted herself to say, "No, you like to visit in January so that wouldn't work for you. We would start you in, say, October."
*Is it true that what they usually offer is points now (2004-2005 points) and points later (2005-2006 points)? In which case she just offered me a lousy deal!
*But you can't bank those "backdated" points? When do you have to use them by?
It's true that we want to visit in January, for many reasons, but the most important one is when I can get away from my job-- in other words, it is not just a matter of preference. So I can see that a Use Year towards the end of the calendar year would be best for us, so that if our plans didn't work out we could still bank 100%. But I really don't like the idea of not getting points that other buyers are getting.
I will ask her these questions when I speak to her again but I wanted to get some input from this board. If I hadn't been reading the board, I might not have even known what she was saying before she changed course.
