Current DVC Promotion

Hi. I'm new here. My fiance and I did the DVC tour last Saturday morning and are very seriously considering joining.

The issue now is that if we join by tomorrow we will get the current financing promotion which is pretty good. However, we will be stretched pretty thin over the next few months until we get our bonuses. If we wait until we get our bonuses we can put more money down up front and lower our monthly payments but we won't get the current promotion and the money Disney would pay up front would really help.

So I'm wondering . . .

Our guide told us that the current promotion is only good for 72 hours after the end of our vacation. If we go back next February and decide we are ready to join, will they really NOT honor the offer we initially heard. Seems like they should want our money regardless of whether they get it now or in February and like they are almost punishing you for not having the money right NOW.

Has anyone had an experience where they did their initial tour then went back a few months later to sign up? Were you offered a similar promotion?

I believe that you can ask for a small extension, as long as it's during the 72 hours, but not likely a year. This is a polcy that they seem to be pretty strict on. There is usually $500 to commit to DVC. The rest of my down payment was not due until I cloased. You may want to see when they are handling lcosings. It seems to me that I read someone was not closing until February. Ask your guide. Do a search, there was a pretty lengthy discssion on the 72 hour topic in teh last couple weeks.

If I recall, once we got the ball rolling, we actually had quite a bit of time to change our minds - several weeks in fact. Maybe that's your best bet. Go ahead and get the ball rolling :rotfl:

Honestly, I wish to goodness my husband and I had bought in five or so years ago when we first took our tour. I begged and pleaded, but the "we just don't have the money" right now song that my DH kept singing got it's way. We just bought in last October - much higher price. Instead of myself, felt like kicking him over the delay, but I was too happy! Anyway...

If this is important to you, fits within your circle of values, it is money well spent. And you may end up compensating elsewhere in your life by lowering your spending on things that you find don't actually fit within your value system. We were wasting tons on junk!

I digress, but I must mention that I am doing the Automatic Millionaire Coaching Program with David Bach (www.finishrich.com), so I am all hyped up right now about making smart choices that make you happy now, fit within your value system, and will help make you "rich" later :teeth:

Good luck with your decision, and feel free to E-mail with questions.

The general concensus of those who have pursued this is that Disney is very strict on adhering to this policy, with minor extensions that are only a few days long.

Keep in mind that this is an incentive to act now; DVC will still be available at the list price (whatever it may go up to) next February.

If you really want in, why don't you join now and pay down the debt when you get your bonus? Disney does not penalize you for paying early.

I agree with the suggestion of the previous poster. If you know that DVC is what you want and affording it in a few months won't be a obstacle to your budget, why don't you commit now so that you receive the incentives being offered along with whatever else DVC is offering for inticement? Make the minimal required payments for now and then when you get your bonuses, apply the bonuses directly to the principal. Disney doesn't care how fast you pay off the loan and you could make a hefty dent in the amount owed by putting your bonus money towards your purchase.

We just bought at the SSR on weds. Our first payment isnt due until June 1 (May 15th is the other date). If that will be after your bonus is in, than it shouldnt be a problem. We dont start payment until afterh the phase 2, which is the phase we bought, is complete.

this is to elfbo. when do your points start. as in when can you use them. is it when the next phase is done? and you just bought no and your payments don't stat till june? please get back to me asap

We receive our points the beginning of april. We have no payments until June. Our first payment will be a little higher because of accrued intrest between april and june. The phase II is scheduled to be done by april, so thats when we get our points. We can book travel already, as long as the trip is after april. If you go with the developer points (equal to the number of points you buy), intstead of 10$ off each point, you may be able to use them right away, but im not sure as i didnt go with that option.

Please don't overstretch your finances due to the promotion! I'll bet you can get a good deal through a local bank when you're ready -- if they don't re-offer when you're down there again.
