Current Cruise Pricing

All of those other lines do have Mickey Mouse, Princesses and friends. Also dont have Castaway Cay, first run disney movies, etc.

Are the prices high, Yes. Can you get more for less on other lines, Yes. But my now 3 yr old DD cant sit on Cinderella's lap while she reads her a story in the nursery on Oasis of the Seas and she cant see the Tangled show on Princess Cruise lines.

I agree that Disney Charges a premium for their entertainment and right now for our family..........its worth it. When my DD is 16 and wants to rock climb, lay by the pool and do excursions I may change my mind but until then.......I am a familiar face at the rebooking desk. Based on how full the ships are lately, something tells me that we are not alone. :mic:

At some of the price diferentials you could bring along your very own personal "Cinderella" to read to your daughter daily and still come out ahead.....

Seriously, I wonder how much of the agressive pricing is designed to prevent this year's bookings kicking their vacation to next year. Of course it could be a get-while-the-getting-is good before capacity increases with the new boats coming online which will change the supply demand ratio.

I do think they have the princess market cornered for sure. But my son is 6, we will be doing our first DCL cruise in November. Next year we are doing a Northern Europe/Iceland..wanted to go DCL, but I would never pay over $13k for myself and a 6 year old in a standard room. That's absolutely ridiculous! I don't know who could see the value in that, but maybe the parents of a princess loving little girl could.
We can't do RCI either because I don't like their itinerary, so now I'm looking at MSC. But if we were doing a Southern Caribbean, I wouldn't hesitate to choose a ship with rock climbing walls, surf simulators, etc etc for my child.

Not all of DCL's prices are completely absurd, but the Southern Caribbean and 11 night Europe itineraries are completely and insanely disproportionate for what they are.

I posted something similar to this in another thread- I think Disney is counting on the Super (Disney or nothing) Fans and on the Princess lovers..
I have seen people post that they will skip an annual vacation in order to afford the DCL one. Also that it is their one trip either annually or semi annually. Those people will pay these prices.
People who have an excess of money and want to pay will still pay.

However-People who do not see the value in these price tags, and know what kind of vacation they can get with same overall money..as well as not willing to make DCL/WDW etc their only destination for the year, and would never skip a vacation in a calendar year- those people will not pay, regardless of income level.

If someone has convinced themselves that $13k for 2 in a standard room is a value, good for them, and I hope they have an amazing trip. But I can't imagine DCL filling a ship at that price point.

I think the special itinerary and summer sailings were really what was CRAZY. I put a hold on the new 9 night Alaskan and the 10 night Northern European. Both ended up being over 8K (each) for 2 adults with on board booking discount, so we cancelled. Our 7 night Alaskan last year (last sailing of the year) was only $3500 for 2 adults. I get that there are 2 new ports, and 2 extra nights - but that wasn't worth an additional $4500 to us. We could take 2 - 7 night cruises off season for that. And I am sure that is what we will do.

We tend to stay in the caribbean/bahamas area and always cruise at non peak times in an effort to keep the cruise more affordable. We have only done one summer cruise ever.................we go around labor day when kids are starting back to school and early may right before kids get out of school.

The high price cruises tend to be at the holidays, spring break and summer. Also any double dip and limited cruise (europe, alaska, hawaii, and southern carrib) so we just steer clear of those.

good luck.

If you look around you find all types of discounts, different amounts and timing.

Apprently DCL still seem to feel they make more money with the discounts/ extra bookings.

However the bottom line is still the market price, discounts or no discounts. Overall DCL puts out a specail cruise none of the other lines can touch.

I was refering to March 2016 to March 2017 not summer.
You still didnt answer my question. You said other cruise lines are raising prices higher than dcl. Like who? You so admantly defend dcl on everything, but when was the last time you sailed on them, and did you book a Summer cruise? If they're such a great value, and worth the price Im just wondering which one you booked.

I think these special cruises are expensive because the supply for them is so small. DCL does one 9-night Alaska, two SC cruises on the Fantasy, one 11-night rt Norwary/Iceland cruise. Now repositioning cruises can be a good value (even though their supply is small) because you start and stop in a different spot and that turns some people away. Just my 2¢.

A while ago there was long thread, showing where RCCL and Celebrity and a few others on comparable vessels/ cabins were the same and sometimes more.

I have never cruised in the summer anywhere. As I said above, 2 times, I was referring a March 2016 to March 2017 Fantasy cruise.

If you followed my posts you would have notice I often am fast to point out something I feel DCL was wrong to do. I was not happy about the booze cut backs, the loss of the Mickey Mail, to the loss of the Pillow case signing and said so, I was not happy about the way they handled the CM who assaulted the young girl in the elevator and said so, etc, etc, etc, Please do not tell me what my opinions are. Where we differ is that pricing is a matter of market not DCL being greedy. ALL lines, every single one of them charge the most their product can get. Some people don't want to pay DCL price and some sadly cannot, but that does not make DCL greedy. They simply put out a special cruise with Disney Magic and Pixie dust and the people was willing to pay for it.

As I HAVE OFTEN SAID, IF ANYONE FEELS DCL I NOT WORTH THE PRICE, THEY SHOULD GO TO A LINE THEY ARE HAPPY WITH. WHY SHOULD THEY NOT???

I would love to see proof. I price out cruises weekly. I have never seen anything higher than dcl. I compare apples to apples.Im guessing you dont find the value in dcl since your not sailing on them.

Who/when/what are you checking? Tonka has certainly sailed on DCL enough to have an opinion on the matter. Having a current cruise booked or not doesn't prove or disprove a thing. Until Disney actually sees a drop off where they need to lower prices or change something it is safe to say they haven't hit their top price point yet. As Disney has been all too willing to prove lately with Shanghai's issues when they are not happy with their bottom line they will take fast and drastic action.

Feel free to look it up, I don't need to prove the facts I have already seen. Please note I pointed out the Comparisons provided in the thread were vessel to vessel cabin type to cabin type. Who said I don't sail DCL???, I was on the Fantasy last week. Ask Steve 100, we met on board......AKK

Ive been checking cruise prices for weeks. I guess we can agree to disagree on that. I was just asking if he personally still cruises dcl. A lot of platinums dcl cruisers are finding much lower prices on other ships. Ive havent seen one post stating dcl was lower than rRCI, carnival, norwegian etc

Platinums???............hell we cannot take the time off from work or cruise any line that often as we cannot afford it. We sail dcl about every other year.

Right now *fingers crossed* I am hoping to maybe do the 3 month summer training cruise at Maritime, teaching, in 2018 o 2019.

NO problem, it would not be any fun if everyone agreed on the Dis.

LOL This is why I will not spend the time searching, some how I rarely can find what I am looking for. However it was there. a few months ago.

Disney's jumped the shark! I can't justify their cruise pricing and recent gouging in the parks may eliminate those vacations too. We've already decreased our trips to WDW, even though, we have DVC. One week in WDW vs three in Europe? It's a no brainer.

I so agree! It's killing me to pay summer 2017 prices for our next cruise but my husband won't even consider another line. I told him we could do the same 7 night Western itinerary on an Oasis class ship in a suite but he insists on doing DCL again. I guess I did too good of a job convincing him on our 3 night cruise that DCL is the best ... and I thought I was the Disney fanatic in our relationship. Yikes!!!
My husband was like this until I started showing him numbers and utube videos. People are having just as much fun on ncl and celebrity etc as they are on dcl.

We cruise three times a year. I'm always pricing out cruises on every line. I have never ever seen anything more expensive than DCL. The week of Dec 3 is a perfect example. The Fantasy is 5500 for an ocean view for four people. Carnival Vista 3500 8 day cruise. Last time I checked which was a few months ago the Harmony was 3k central park view. NCL getaway under 3k with free drinks. I could go on and on. These are all newer ships than the Fantasy. We cruise that week every year. Most likely there will be GT rates, interline, MTO etc to bring the price of the Fantasy down for some people. I never really check celebrity because it's not really a family cruise line so to speak. As someone who doesn't book unless I get a discount. I am seeing more discounted cruises in May, June and July than I have ever seen. So to me that is a telling sign.
If you cruise every other year, and I don't check prices...basing your opinion on a thread from two months ago? There's a hundreds of posts on here with people switching to other cruise lines and finding pricing to be much much less than DCL.
