current construction on I-65/I-24/I-75

Hi. We'll be driving from Indiana to Orlando in June. Just wondering if anyone has driven our route lately and can report on current construction and delays? I know it's a bit early, but hey! I'm a planner--so sue me!!

Don't know how far up in Indiana you are. I drove up I-65 late march. There is a sign warning about huge traffic delays due to construction work in the Gary area on I-80/94.

This sign was on I-65 in .............. southern Indiana. I believe just after you cross the border. I never saw a warning that far south.

we made the drive down on March 26/27 and the return trip on April 2/3, starting just south of Louisville, KY. We didn't see any real construction until we got to Nashville, and it was intermittent through TN and GA. I don't remember seeing any construction in FL. Traffic ran pretty smoothly, albeit heavy (it was Spring Break) each way. There were occasional backups, but that is to be expected on a road trip, LOL. The exception to that would be Nashville. Is there a time that there is no roadwork going on somewhere in or around that city? LOL....Really, coming home on 4/3, the traffic in Nashville (hear the I-40 split) was horrific. The truck drivers were talking about it for miles.

I suggest checking the KY/TN/GA/FL Dept. of Transportation websites before heading out....

And you're right Madge, there is always construction going on through here in Nashville! The construction you're talking about at the I-24/I-40 split is not projected to be complete until 2007! Ugh. You oughtta see I-40 west of downtown.

I have to tell you, we dread driving through Nashville as much, if not more, than driving through Atlanta. I am a big fan of the Briley Parkway, and that new highway...840, I think it's called?

I have been driving that route since 1972 and can't remember when there wasn't any construction. Of course senior moments are kicking in and could be mistaken. If they ever stop constructing there I'll probably run off the road looking for the construction baricades.
