I’m thinking of signing up my 5 year old princess and fancy-everything for the BBB and maybe the Royal Tea. I would love to hear about recent experiences. My older daughter did the BBB on our last cruise in 2019 so I am familiar with the process in general. I read somewhere that they aren’t doing makeup or nails in the salon - totally get it. My daughter won’t know any different since this is her first time going… so I guess I’m just curious what the kids thought about the experience overall.

And, the same question about the Royal Tea. We haven’t done that one at all so now I won’t know the difference! :) Thanks!!

We did the tea last week on the Dream.

there were only 4 tables of guests (5 kids as 1 table had 2 kids) the 5 year old enjoyed it and it wasn’t the worst value but it’s definitely a special occasion thing..

the gifts were acceptable in value, the snacks tasty, the interactions were satisfactory (my kiddo has a tough time speaking loud enough when put on the spot so she gets frustrated with the current set ups..)

we don’t do BBB so can’t comment.

Bump - lots of changes since I last asked. Curious if everything was ‘normal’ again.

My girls did BBB on the 4/18 Dream sailing, they did have makeup and nails done along with the hair. This was our first cruise but we’ve done BBB in the parks several times and it seemed like the normal experience.

just curious, how did that work with masking? DCL's website is still showing masking required and no makeups. We aren't sailing for a few more months though, so fingers crossed.

From DCL:
All Guests, including children, are required to wear face coverings throughout the entire Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique experience. Makeup will not be applied during the makeover experience at this time. For all applicable packages, the makeup palette will be provided as a takeaway.

From DCL:
Maybe DCL hasn’t update information in all the places? Here’s a screenshot from the “Know before you go” updates. It sounds like it’s just unvaccinated children have to wear masks.

interesting... I wonder if there's a difference between US and European cruises? Certainly didn't see anything about masking requirement being different between the two anywhere. Below is a screenshot of what I was shown in the BBB booking page today. This is for an European cruise in September 2022. If anyone has an upcoming booking departing from the US, it'd be interesting to see if the BBB booking page shows the same info!

Hmmm…. So I looked at our reservation and see the same language for our BBB appointment on a Caribbean cruise that departs this week. I’ve read a few places that it’s ‘back to normal’ without masks - so I guess we will see. I’ll come back and update after our cruise.

We just came home from a wonderful cruise on the Fantasy! My daughter loved the BBB experience!

When we checked in, they asked if she had been vaccinated. When I confirmed she had, they didn’t say anything else. They did have signs posted that guests who weren’t vaccinated needed to wear a mask - but everyone else was not required to.

They did the whole experience, including makeup application and nail polish. My daughter thought it was truly amazing. :)

The experience felt the same as the pre-pandemic experience my older daughter had. If things were different, we didn’t notice.

I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of doing it for their child!

Thank you so much for sharing! Do you remember if they were offering the packages? The ones that allow the kids to go for either 2x or 3x during the cruise?

I did not notice if they had that package. They did have the deluxe dress package but I’m not sure about the multiple dress option. My daughter zeroed in on what she wanted and I didn’t look at the rest.

They did have shoes for an extra cost. They were clear/silver or gold - your choice. They lit up and had small butterflies. The cost was about $30. I had intended ti bring our Cinderella/Elsa shoes that light up but forgot…. So now we have lots of fancy shoes. :rolleyes1
