For hurricane threats, the Fort is evacuated. Has it happened for this tropical storm threat? Can't believe any other campground in the US is as concerned for its campers safety as FW!

Umm...nope. This is nothing more than a rainstorm for Central and East-Central FL, so far. We are under Tornado warnings, but we haven't had anything more than medium, not even heavy, rain.

Okay... Hurricanes in Juen. We really can not start this early :sad2:.

I'm going to Bahia Honda in the Keys this weekend... praying for SUNSHINE :sunny: .

Well... I live in Miami, Florida.

Hurricanes are-a-comin'!! This year is supposed to have more hurricanes than last year. :worried: :headache:

We just hope that they are not there when we go.

But, I am going to stay in FW in September, and there were hurricanes in September last year. So, I am also wondering what FW does. Do they board up with Wilderness lodge??

Thanks...

The arch at the entrance is taken down but I'm pretty sure there aren't any roll down shutters :) .

At FW they evacuate the campers to moderates. Rv's are parked in the lots and then guests are put up in rooms.

When we were at FW last year, on the morning of the day we were to leave there was a note on the windshield that stated due to an approaching hurricane we were to move to PO and check-in.

I have read that cabin guests have gone to both deluxe or moderates.

Last year, in late October I think, we were given a days notice and sent to one of the All Star resorts. RVs were parked in the All Star parking lot. The only hassel was a long line at the check-in. Disney deserves a whole lot of credit for looking out for the safety of guests. And it was like one big happy homecoming to see everyone pulling back into the campground after the all-clear was given!

They do evacuate and it just depends on where they have room. My friend went from Ft. Wilderness to the Grand Floridian during a hurricane warning..pretty big jump huh ::yes:: ? And no additional costs. I have been there through a couple hurricanes at dis because Disney always knows how to take care of its guests in a time like that. We live in Palm Beach, FL but drive up to disney just to take on the hurricanes. Your never without power, at least for a long time. And they always have activities to keep everyone entertained!! I don't know their policy on Tropical storms though. I imagine they have a certain limit to how much wind speeds are before they will evacuate.[FONT]
