absolutely. I've caught quite a few on video camera. I used to ghost hunt in an old building here in Richmond that has had its share of excitement and deaths over the years. I've seen a few in my father's house. I even had one sit at the end of my bed one night and mess with my feet. I felt the corner of the bed go down like someone sat on it, heard the creak that the bed makes when someone sits on it, then felt the covers slowly move off of my feet and something touched it. I jumped and it went away. Saw what looked to be a young woman in her mid to late 20s maybe walking down the hallway wearing a long, red, dress that dragged the ground. Sorta like what women wore back in the old days.
:scared1: Ahh, now how am I going to sleep tonight? :scared:

Yes, I believe in ghosts. Here is a true story. When my daughter was a freshman in college, her employer asked her to housesit and care for her dogs while she was gone for the weekend. DD was supposed to have a couple of girlfriends spend the night with her, but they didn't unbeknowst to me at the time. I got a call from DD around 3am and she said a woman was in the house--that she'd been in the bedroom where DD was sleeping. My daughter woke up and one of the dogs was on the bed with her and the other dog was at the foot of the bed standing next to the woman who had her hand on the dog's head. DD said the woman frowned at her and then she wasn't there anymore. The dogs never barked. Needless to say, I was scared out of my mind. My husband was getting dressed to go while we were talking and he hurried to get to DD--about 25 minutes away. He stayed in contact with her via cell phone during the drive. DH got to the house where they checked all windows and doors and everything was locked up tight. He spent the rest of the night with DD and they came home the next morning. Her employer was due back that afternoon. DH was convinced DD was dreaming, but she insisted it was not a dream and I didn't know what to think. She was very convincing. She saw her employer at work the next day and told her about what happened--broke down and cried--it was an intense experience. The employer listened carefully. She asked DD for a description of the woman and DD described her. She asked if DD had entered a room downstairs which had a closed door-computer equipment in the room-and daughter said she hadn't. She said she was sorry it had happened. What else could she say? Next day DD worked, employer asked her to look at a photo of her grandmother. It was the woman DD had seen and employer recognized her from the description. The photograph was in the computer room. She believed my daughter. So did I. We haven't shared this story with many people because some folks might think she's a nutcase, but most of the people who've heard it belived it. I had a chance to talk to DD's employer a couple of weeks later. She said she believed DD and that if she ever had a daugter she hoped she was just like my DD. Sorry this is so long. I'm a "wordy" person. My own story....My beloved grandfather died 3 months before my 3rd child was born 18 years ago. I have dreamed about him many times and twice have woken up crying and smelling Old Spice fragrance. No one in our home wears it, but Granddad did.

Wow, there are a couple of great stories here. Like I said in my original post, I grew up with ghost stories, so I love them! While growing up I lived in numerous houses with a couple of them being very haunted. The ghosts seemed to be attracted to my mother and sister (my mother was and my sister is able to connect/see ghosts. When I was a kid we had a ghost that all of my siblings and I would call "Charlie" my father had no idea where this came from. We would talk about him, he would play tricks, never anything evil, this continued for years. My sister would say that this was his name and that he loved us living here (all the action I guess). I vividly remember this one night my mother says out loud "well Charlie if you are really here swing the chandelier, and guess what, the chandelier swung wildly that it almost hit my father in the head! A couple of years later, my father was moving some old furniture that was in the basement (left from previous owners) and under this huge old armoire is this cemetary plot on the ground! It said Charles XXXXXXXX 1857-1921! Well my mother wigged out as you can imagine. Turns out she was telling my father for years that he was there, she had said she thought he was buried there, but my father thought how could that be possible? Well he looked into it and it turned out that the original owner wanted to be buried in his house! I still can't fathom how you could actually do that, but they did! I must say that Charlie never did anything bad, it was just disturbing knowing that someone was actually buried in your house, we moved pretty soon after that. I have at least a hundred more stories but the rest are somewhat more disturbing so I will not repeat them. I know this story sounds crazy, but we are not nuts!

If you do not believe in ghosts then you do not believe in life after death.

Oh, I don't believe in ghosts at all, but I do believe in life after death (heaven and hell). However, I do believe in angels and demons.

Yesss! I think our house is haunted because I always get freaked out late at night and I saw something in the hallway once. But the really scary thing is I have a deck of tarot cards, and I'm always finding the death card in the front room. We also always have orbs showing up in pictures of the front room and outside. I'm going to attach some pictures if I can get photobucket.com to come up.

I selected possible.. As I believe them to a possible extent.. I beleive they are there but cant hurt you/rape you any of that..

As I have seen one (or I believe) and had many freaky expirences

ok here's DH late at night with orbs all around and some new pictures of our spare bedroom and i outlined the orbs.

Once my brothers best friends dad died unexpectintly. It was the night before and we walked in on my brother (barely of talking age) screaming "Daddy Dieing, Daddy dieing" and sure enough the next day his friends dad died..

Also at my school dance..At both of them this year me and my friends have noticed this one light that goes green.. All the adults couldnt exlpain it..Also lights in that same building. In the locker rooms(I have heard) they hear talking when no one is it in as (another rummor) someone has hung themself in it and someone jumped off our building. Also I have heard taht people have heard night marcher (ancient hawaiian ghosts) and seen a little girl in all white walking around

So I dont know if I have acutally exprienced it but I know there out there :3dglasses

Also whenever I come home to my empty house or read about this I get uneasy feelings as I look upstairs and at the lanai

And I have a ton of things I could post, but I'm battoning down the hatches for Dennis and need to get busy. Hmmmmm...a short one I can share.....let me think...there are so many...

Ok...shortest one I know and not actually about me, but myhouse. We moved in here 3 years ago and didn't know the...uh...history of the house or area. The house was built in 1901, so it is quite old. There was a girl who was 9 when the house was new and it was built by her father. She lived in the house until college, went away to "finishing school" and then also College, and then came back here. Her family was quite wealthy and well respected in the community. When she was a little older, she married a local man who was the town pharmacist. Ok...all that doesn't matter much to this story, but it is background. :)

Well, the lady's husband died in the late 50's or early 60, but she lived until 1977 in the home her father built. (Now my home) From 1977 until we bought the house, there were many owners, most only kept the house a year or maybe two and we are the first family to make it past the 3 year mark.

There was a lady that boght the house in the early 90's that decided she would turn it into a bed and breakfast. She and her husband spent one night in the house, felt someone "sit" on the edge of their bed, and got up and left right then and there. They still stayed on the property, but on the 2nd day of bed and breakfast ownership, they moved in an airstream trailer, and spent the next almost 3 years living behind the house.

Maybe I'll be back with a few more if I can get enough stuff done. AND if no one starts acting up around here. :wave2:

OH...I'm so dumb....and the best and most convincing to me was when we were at the hospital in NOvember with my mom as she was dying...she was sitting up in a chair "visiting" with people that came and went all day. Every now and then she would say, "I want my mommy. Have you seen my mommy?" and she was talking to all the old family membery and friends we knew of as children or were long gone before us but we had heard the beloved stories. Gosh, there were so many moments while my mom was getting ready to pass away and they are all WAY shorter than my previous post, too!

Gee, I miss my mom tonight.

Yup I honestly do believe...

I've never seen one but often I've felt and smelled a long time friend. I truely believe he is watching out for me.

I live with one, and have seen them my entire life. I communicate on rare occasions and enjoy ghost hunting. I am very open about talking on this subject; it has always been a part of my life, very non-chalant

i think we live in a very haunted state... i have read on the internet that sc is very haunted.

i do believe... i live in towns full of haunted and abandon houses...the most famous haunted house in my town is the wershing house...it is still lived in today. Here's the link to read about it: Weird NJ ( it's weird nj website, it is under ghost then the most haunted house,). This website also has a lot other creepy stuff(don't read if you want to go to bed). the thing that scares me the most is Nj's famous abandon Metal hosptials. i hear one thing from there i won't sleep for a week.
i never had a first hand experince but i have some stories that are from people who had a first hand, well they say they did. One person i know, i think aunt or grandma, had a bunch of dolls in one room that would blink on there own. i also heard about people that visit the abandon houses around the town and see things moving and hear things while just outside and while walking in the homes. Yeah not much to my stories but they are some thing.
I do think my car is haunted, it was my grandfather who past away, and some strange stuff has happen to me while driving along. My parents think I am just making it up so i can just get rid of the car so i can get a new one.
Also i hear my dog, also past away, snore when i am just sitting in the kitchen. I don't if that is her spirit, or just me wanting to hear her snoring. I am afaird to tell my parents, because they may think i'm nuts.

well, keep the stories coming! i always need a good scare. Have fun on the weird nj website.

( i have an urge to go on the haunted mansion ride) :earboy2:

Hey all, I'm back from Salem, and have a few pictures.

Before I post them, I should say I don't really think orbs are a good indicator of paranormal activity, but I know a lot of people do, so take these pictures however you will. Keeping in mind that there are quite a few other things these photos can be. Dust, insects and other small things that fly through the air can all = orbs. The more perfectly circular an orb is in a picture, the more difficult it is to explain away as a particle of dust or a big.

We went on one of those ghost tours in Salem. It was interesting but I did not get any sense of ghostly entities from any of the locations we stopped on, save one. We stopped at the home of a sherriff during the trials who frequently tortured the prisoners and was later buried in the basement of the home. He was then removed years later and the building now houses a small publishing company. I felt uneasy and an overwhelming sense of fear on that property before I even knew what it was. But the other places we stopped at I just kind of shrugged off.

Anyway, here are some photos (digital) taken during the tour, and also later at night when I went back without the tour guide and group.

multiorbs.JPG

Multiple orbs in an old cemetary associated with the witch trials.

orbsatjail3.JPG

Possible orbs at the old Salem jail, a very creepy place whether you believe in ghosts or not. The amount of human suffering that went on here up until failry recently is sickening.

orbatjail2.JPG

More possible orbs at the jail

orbabovejail.JPG

Another possible orb above the jail. No, it's not the moon.

jailkeepershouse.JPG

Could be discoloration of the wood boaring up the old jailkeepers house, or it could be something else. When I zoomed in, there were outlines of a human face.

lightatjail.JPG

:confused3

noidea.JPG

No idea. I tried brightening this to see what it is, my first guess would have been a reflection of some sort but there were no windows or other light things here for the flash to reflect off of. This was taken in front of a carriage house that has since been boarded up in front of the old jail.

wthisthis.JPG

This is that house that made me feel uneasy. I did not notice the transluscent figure in the window until after viewing the photos on my computer several times. I have ruled out the possibility of this being something in the window (there was a bust of Benjamin Franklin in another window, and a bust of George Washington in another window, but not this one.) I have ruled out that it's part of the curtain and it was very high up to be a reflection. So I have no idea other than that I have no desire to investigate this particular location further.
