Some of us moms were together this morning and in the course of the conversation one of the moms mentioned that she and her husband had some interest in their home. They're selling it themselves via the internet.
The interested party saw their ad and wants to buy it, sight unseen. The mom said that he expressed in his email that he was only looking at homes in the 250K to 450K range. He likes their house, wants to buy it, is trusting that they are representing their home accurately because he is not asking for any inspections. Further, he's paying cash and he's in Nigeria.
All the moms expressed concern but she seems to feel it's all legit and anyhow, they themselves are using a title company.
Nigeria + large amounts of money =
for me.
If we lived near a big city I'd think maybe he's a dignitary or somebody important but our are isn't all that special.
Scam or are we overreacting?

SCAM! Who buys ANY property sight unseen for that kind of money? NOBODY! If they think that out of all the MILLIONS of homes on the market nation-wide THEIR house has that special "something" that no other house has, they are truly kidding themselves. Most of us wouldn't spend $100 on something we've never laid eyes on, let alone $200-500,000.
