Curious about value of points of expensive home resorts

We bought our VGC contract in 2010 too. I tried to post on here to rent my VGC points last year but there was not much interest. I believe I was asking $17/point. I offered the points up to a third party intermediary and they rented my points out in a few days.
I ended up going through DVC Rental Store after reading many positive reviews about them and was able to rent out my points for $18/point immediately. It was very quick and easy.

Thanks for reviving this thread. I am a different person from who started this thread. I learned a lot from this site.

Anyways, vgc is easy to rent out because it's so cheap for its value and it's rare. My point is that vgc point is extremely expensive but rental price is same with other relatively cheaper resort's rental. Still I'm not sure if it makes sense.

If you watch the rental thread on here they go fast at $22 a point.
You might see 1 or so a month since there isn’t much available.
I don’t know why the Rental companies only offer $18 that is ridiculous.
An average night at Grand Cal cash reservation is over $900 with tax.

I understand what you mean, but since I bought my VGC points so long ago I feel like I am still getting a good value for renting them out. Perhaps renting directly would make more financial sense for others who bought VGC more recently.

Now it seems more sense after checking redweek's rental price for VGC. I calculated price per point for some rented reservations. They were more than 20 pp like 21 to 29. (Many customers don't seem to know how many points are needed for peak seasons, but just care about per night price. So they tend to pay more pp for slow seasons.)
I think other rental companies need to update their systems.
