Just thought I would ask about any problems that ANY of you had with booking with a DVC member OR problems that DVC members have had dealing with non-members.

Just returned from a great vacation and dealt with two different DVC members with two different ressies. Not only did we not have a single problem but was also able to request rooms and receive excellent treatment that IMO would only be expected for DVC members.

Just curious as to any problems that others have had. As a non-member I am blown away about how not only the ease but also the availability that is offered to people like me.:thumbsup2 I'm also a little upset that I have missed out on years of taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity.:upsidedow

problems are rare but here was one (old) issue:

for the most part, i just didn't like the lack of control when i rented from a DVC owner...just the possibility that the reservation could be canceled out from under me before i checked in...so i decided to buy into DVC myself...

mostly it's hassle of dealing with shoppers who want to check availability then go and shop around for someone who is $1 per pt cheaper...but there have been a few more problematic situations that i remember. here's one...

hee. a lot of DVC members feel like we get poor treatment relative to cash customers...i've always been treated terrifically and it's great to hear you did too.

Wow! Truly some sad experiences. Seems besides the money, the DVC member takes the biggest risk as they could find that their membership could be "put on hold" until things get cleared up. If that's the only "timeshare" or vacation club that they own, that could really be bad.

The members that I rented from provided a "contract" that did ease my mind a little bit as to dealing with an honest and sincere person. I would also think with exchanging ones personal info. (from both parties) it provides an avenue to pursue if things do go wrong, in a limited way.

As a DVC member since 1999, I can tell you that I've never had a problem with renting or transferring points to DVC or non-DVC members. It is a matter of trust. I treat people the way I want to be treated and always, always do at least one phone conversation with someone before a transaction, unless they have tons of posts and I can look back and view them.

I actually just completed a transfer with no problems.

Do you have any points left for May? Just kidding.

As a member, is there anything that you would like from a renter that would make it easier or better from your end that currently is not being done?
