I have a split stay booked for the middle of March, initially 3 days Contempory and 5 AKL savanah room. I noticed the Poly was fully open so changed it to 4 days Poly and 4 days AKL. There is still a lot of availability at Poly. Is it that it is more points or sonething else? I am getting a little worried. We booked there because of the pull down bed given I will be staying with my tween and young teen daughters.

Poly has a large number of studios....the most of all DVC resorts. And as they sell, they add more onto the inventory. I am glad to hear you had such availability because I want to book two studios for early March 2018 with OKW points.

It is mainly season and number of rooms. Middle of March is during DVC's low to moderate demand season at WDW, which runs from the Monday after marathon weekend in Jan to late Sep, and March, except when dealing with an Easter week, tends to be in the "low" side of that low to moderate time.

Poly has 360 studios, significantly more than every other resort except SSR. Thus, it takes a lot of reservations to actually fill them for any given time. During the low to moderate DVC demand season, they fill at close to the same pace as OKW studios.

What are the chances that since they are adding more studios as they sell that they'll add a few that are roll in shower equipped? There's only one per DVC longhouse right now as far as I know which doesn't give someone like me who requires that kind of accommodation much variety.

When we say "add studios," we do not mean they are building more at Poly. We mean how many of the studios are available for DVC point bookings.

The studios with roll-in showers are what they are. The quantity will not change.

I didn't think you meant build new ones. I thought you meant add from existing ones that aren't DVC yet.

The thing is, the "allocation" of what is and is not DVC is meaningless when actually making room assignments. It's not that room 28 is DVC and room 29 is still CRO. Either room might be assigned to a points or cash booking.

Accessible rooms are a booking category and my understanding is that the number of them is determined by federal law. It isn't clear when they are assigned to guests that don't need them but it seems that the room assigners move people to vacant accessible rooms a few days prior to check in.

Keep in mind there are a lot points declared by DVD (the developer) to be used in sales at PVB that can be used by any member for room reservations. Only a little over 55% of the PVB points have been sold and around 74% have been declared. And like all DVC resorts not all PVB owners book at their homer resort so that opens even more points for members that are booking at the 7 month mark. Then sometimes DVD will declare more units so more points are available to sold and additional then can villas booked. The declarations just depend on how strong sales are at PVB.

Availability is really a different animal, it just depends on how popular a resort is at a specific time of year. drusba has a very book post about availability here.
