Curious about birthdays

When I travel to WDW in September, we will be there one week before one of our birthdays. Do the restaurants or the resorts (Poly) do anything special if you tell them about birthdays?

We went down a few years ago for my mom's birthday. She wore the button to the parks and we informed them at LTT that it was her birthday. They decorated our table with confetti and they had a cake for her..the choices were vanilla or chocolate. She also got a cupcake from Hollywood and Vine.

Hit or miss at both resorts and the restaurants. We told them when it was my DH's birthday five years ago at both the resort and the restaurants and only one restaurant brought him a cupcake. Last year, we went for my 50th birthday and successful cancer surgery and DH made sure every restaurant knew it was my birthday. At Crystal Palace for breakfast, I had confetti, ribbons, a flower and then they brought a cupcake with a candle and a card signed by Pooh and friends; every other restaurant we ate at (except Boatwright's) brought either a small piece of cake or a cupcake at the end of our meal. Also, the CSR gave me balloons at check in and then delivered a small gift basket to us once we were in the room (I don't know if this is because we've stayed at the CSR numerous times or just "luck of the draw").

KatMark - I always recognize your posts (from your picture I guess) and they are always so positive and nice. I just wanted to say that I am sorry to hear of your illness but very glad to hear you came through it successfully. I hope you and your DH have a wonderful trip to Disney this year! :flower3:

OP - our experience has also been hit or miss. One year DH wore the birthday pin and was given a free b-day dessert at Coral Reef (and we didn't mention the b-day to them). Another time a CM came up to him as we were leaving Sunshine Seasons and wished happy b-day and gave him a cookie. Another time we did mention we had a birthday and nothing happened. :confused3

Thank you for the kind words about my posts--I try to always be positive (although sometimes it is difficult with some of the goofy posts sometimes). And thanks for the wishes on my illness. I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago February and had surgery and six months of radiation. I had my one year check up this past February and everything was terrific! I have an aunt who lives in Philadelphia--I spoke to her the other day on her birthday.
