The daughter's wedding is October 2016 so naturally we are too far out to talk to Disney. First things first--thanks to everyone here that has given me great advice and info to keep me from going crazy doing almost nothing for this wedding. I am a perpetual planner. I start planning my next Disney vacation the day I return from my vacation. We are planning a Wishes Wedding in Japan at EPCOT. My daughter mentioned today that the music she is looking at for the ceremony sounds best when played by a Stringed Quartet. The ceremony package includes a single violinist for the basic cost of $3500 for an EPCOT venue. Is there a credit for the single ( $600.00) and then the addition of the quartet ( $2025.00)? Also does anyone know if there is already a sound system at the Japan venue also Ariel's, a possible reception venue, or The Living Seas Salon, another possible reception venue? I would also like some insight into cocktail hours at these two venues. Do the cocktail hours take place in the same area, or the same building. Ideally what I want to know is if we get the quartet for the ceremony, you have to pay for 3 hours---is this enough time to have them play for the ceremony through the cocktail hour and an hour of brunch food service. This budget stuff is going to kill me. I so wish I could tell her to just do what she wants for her special day and not worry about money.

They should let you use the credit for the violinist toward the string quartet. The 3-hour minimum gives them enough time to play at the ceremony and during the cocktail hour. There is no sound system in place at any of the outdoor venues, but the ceremony fee includes one with microphones for the groom and officiant. At the reception locations the existing sound systems are only for playing the resort/park background music, so if you wanted an iPod setup or a DJ, you'd pay for that to be brought in.

Now is a great time to start on all the stuff you and your daughter can do yourselves, like dress shopping, searching for an officiant and any outside vendors you want to use, and DIYs like invites, favors, escort cards, and welcome baskets.

Thanks---the info I wanted. You are wonderful. We are so far ahead in the planning. Already have the dress. The bridesmaid dresses have been picked but not purchased. We have narrowed down a menu. She and her girls are working on paper flowers made from books, my daughter is a writer/editor. At this point we have done almost everything we can until we talk to Disney. To keep myself busy I am planning a vacation.

As far as the reception at Ariel's, I know a lot of people do the cocktail hour at Martha's Vineyard, the bar outside of Ariel's. But we're having our reception at Ariel's, and our cocktail hour is at the Yacht & Beach Club Marina.

LOL, I like how your de-stress yourself by planning a vacation.
I know, I have so much non wedding/vow renewal going on that I need one too.

Enjoy your vacation!

Now there is an idea we had not thought of....Yacht and Beach Club Marina. Thanks. When is your big day? And do you have any photos of the spot.?

Ours is not 'til December. Our consultant actually suggested the marina as a cocktail hour location. And that podcast link Carrie just posted of the wedding at the marina sold me on the idea!
