I'e put a lot of thought over the past year about wether or not I want to participate in the program, and I'm (obviously) leaning toward yes. I just have a quick question, possibly "questions" about the culinary part of the program.

I want to work with pastries, but I checked the cp site and I saw nothing specifically on being a pastry chef. My question is, as an aspiring pastry chef, would I have to work at one of the counter-service restaurants making regular food, or would I be placed working in one of Disney's bakeries or confectionaries (ie. Goofy's Candy Co., or The Main Street Confectionary)?

Lots of thanks in advance for any answers, because this has been bothering me for a very long time.:banana::banana:

I received my Associates in Baking & Patisserie, and requested for Disney World to place me into one of their baking positions. They replied back (quickly) that they have a limited amount of those positions, and those go to current Pastry students who are looking for their internship.

Who knows though, depending on how you do in the program you could be moved to one of those spots later on..

Thanks for the reply, but what I actually meant (which I probably should have stated in my earlier post) was if they would put me in a completely different role than I wanted. My sister seems to be under the impression that if you sign up for, for instance, mechanics, that they would just throw you in the kitchen or custodial or something like that.

Disney College Program opportunities do not necessarily correspond to one's academic major. They are meant to impart an experience within Disney's internal culture, with the hope of leading to a Disney Professional Internship opportunity, which does correspond to one's major.

Culinary Externship opportunities are also offered under the Disney College Program brand, but operate slightly differently. They are aimed at students pursuing an education in the Culinary Arts and correspond to the skills gained at school.

Recruiters will visit Culinary Schools nationwide in conjunction with the regular Disney College Program recruiting season. You can read more information on available opportunities here.
