Cub Scout selling popcorn at my door at 8:30 a.m.!

O.K. My son was in scouts, my DD was in scouts....I always buy the popcorn..(.heck, you can't even get into our grocery store as all entrances are commanded by the kids) anyway...for some reason our kids are off school today and this scout has decided to sieze the opportunity to grab some early sales. Nothing wrong with that...but 8:30 a.m.? Would you send your DS out alone that early on a day you know most kids are sleeping in? As I answered the door in my PJ's...I kindly told him to come back later or I would stop by his house to place my usual order. So,,,,the popcorn season has begun here in Illinois!

Well, you have to give him a hand - sounds like he's a tenacious little entrepreneur!! He must have the prize goal of the tent or something....

My son is also a Boy Scout - and you are correct that it is popcorn selling season! I do, however, think that 8:30 am is too early to hit the old sales route.

Zagafi....my DD gets up @ 5:30 for HS and DS is up @ 6:30....so they sleep in 'till about 7:30 or so...but our neighbors teens sleep 'till noon if you let them. Especially since we are only 2 weeks into school...they are not quite back into their routines yet.

All three of mine (they're little, though--almost 6 and the twins are almost 6 months) are up no later than 6:30 on any given day. They're like human alarm clocks! LOL! I'm jealous of people who get to sleep in.

But, flash forward about 10 years and I'll likely be complaining that I can't drag their sorry butts out of bed....



But I am confused--why would most kids still be in bed at 8:30 on a Friday? Has school not yet started where you are? We started early this year, but I'm sure some schools haven't yet begun.

Four day weekend. DD13 is still asleep and it's 11:30.

Yeah, 8:30 is too early to be knocking on doors. Did he see you walking around the house through the window and think you were fair game?

8:30 is waaay to early IMO. I blame the parents though - not the child.

We don't start selling our Popcorn until the end of September and it runs til end of October. I love Trails End, is that the same king you buy?
I'm a Beaver leader!!! However, I would not ask any kids to go door to door selling it, only family and friends.

In Chicago area , Our council won't let us start selling until saturday 9/11..he sure is starting early. And no, I make my boy scouts wait until 10 am to go out to sell popcorn..

*pout* Well, that's just not fair. All the schools around here just have Monday off!

BTW, I wholly agree it's too early to be soliciting. I was having more of a problem with it being a school day and everyone still in bed, though! LOL!
