CSR Standard view question

Hi all:

Is it true that if you book a standard view room at CSR you are automatically going to be stuck in the back of the resort, far from dining, transportation, and the pools? This is what a CM advised me yesterday when I was checking out the possibility of a code rate beating my AAA discount. She told me to try to get water view if at all possible. We couldn't score a waterview room with the room only codes so she advised me to see if I could get an upgrade upon check in because otherwise we'd be in a very remote location.

:confused3 I wanted DISers' feedback on this.

We have had a standard view on at least two of the occasions we have stayed at the CSR. We always stay in the Casitas buildings; it is about a 5 minute walk to El Centro and Pepper Market as well as to the Dig Site if you are in Casitas 5 which is where we usually are. I truthfully couldn't tell you how far a walk it is to the bus because we always rent a car.

No. There are standard rooms available in all the sections.

And, for what it's worth, if you do get "stuck in the back section" (we love that area, by the way) the only thing you are really far removed from is the dining. The main pool is centrally located and all the sections have quiet pools of their own. All the sections also have their own bus stops. Being in the back does put you a pretty good hike from the restaurants - but that's it. And, still, it's no more than 10 minutes or so at a leisurely pace. It's also lovely and quiet back there!

I have a few pictures from our most recent CSR stay (Sept. 06) on our website. Click the link in my signature. We love it there! We actually prefer it to many of the deluxe resorts we have tried. I wish I had more pictures to show you, but I haven't gotten them all up yet!

I'm sure Buzz will come along and give you great information, as well. He has a website with lots of incredible pictures!

Thanks guys. This is what I was hoping to hear. I have a 5 and 8 year old and didn't want them to have to walk a great distance to the bus stop. But we do have a car rental as well.

There are standard view rooms in all the sections, but both times I have stayed there I have been upgraded to water view...Have stayed in the ranchos and the cabanas...both of these sections have great quiet pools and were very close to the "Dig Site". There are 4 bus stops at CSR. If you want a ride over to El Centro...just hop to your bus stop and ride around to EL Centro as it is the last bus stop for all Buses except Downdown Disney.

The bus service at CSR is GREAT! You can also hop on the great luggage carts which run around the lake and ride to El Centro..and there is a bridge across the lake which really cuts the distance down a lot...

Have a great trip!

Not true. I've been to CSR nine times and only paid for waterview once. I've had the cabanas seven times, ranchos once, and casitas once. I think the main factor is the time of day you arrive. The one time I got a room in the ranchos we arrived late in the day.

how about arriving on a Saturday at 2pm?
would it be better a Wed morn about 10am?
