Ok I was able to get the Disney Visa discount, but theonly mods left were POR, CB or CSR. I have only stayed at a mod once, last year at POFQ, and we loved it, up until then we had only stayed at the deluxe resort... I did check those but the only ones available wer GF (not interested-- to much $$ and I wasn't super impressed with it in the past, or atleast enough to pay extra$$$$), Boardwalk... would porbally be ok, but it was a considerable amount more... I was hoping for Contemporary or WL but neither had anything left... so anyway back to my question... of the 3 mods listed which would you prefer, and why? Currently I am booked into POR, jsut because I feel I "know" it a little since it is "connected" in a way to POFQ. Is it going to be just huge??? Will it compare to POFQ... any recent updates, certain buildings to request, etc.

I prefer CSR. Not shared transportation, the best pool and slide of all the mods, a great hot tub and terrific landscaping! Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Personally, I'd go with POR hands down. We did a split stay, CSR/POR and I was pretty unimpressed with CSR on several points. It's a long walk to the rooms, so a couple of times I opted to ask the concierge about park closing times, transport questions. I got bad information twice. Wanted to mail a couple of non-fragile items (from Disney-had receipts). Gift shop big wig was really awful to a poor first day CM, and I had to intervene on her behalf. I am still hoping my box arrives. Finally, they leased out guest rooms for opera singing auditions last week. They were squalking at the top of their lungs dawn to dusk. I am not kidding! It was hot, and I would have dearly loved to have be able to go back to the room for a nap. The noise was unexcusable. These folks should have been given a banquet room or something. Front desk unconcerned. Moved to POR, it was quiet, another box was sent without a single hitch, and the concierges were wonderful. It was like two entirely different vacations.

The age old "Which moderate is better" debate... you can do a search and find about a million posts on this.

And in all of them, Buzz somehow manages to post about CSR before anyone else can say anything :lmao:

The CBR is also huge and sprawling with a ton of separate bus stops to get through. I think you will be very happy at POR. We will be there 9/30-10/07!

I'm sure whatever you choose will be WONDERFUL!! I'm sorry to see one of the above posters had such a difficult time at CSR. I can only comment on CSR becasue it's the only Disney Resort i've had the privlidge of being at..

Just got back July 22. We had a great time, the front desk was so receptive! The Staff so helpful and friendly! The food was wonderful and the surrondings were a true paradise!

We stayed in Rancho's 7b and it was a LONG walk to the main building and quite a "jaunt" to the dig site. We loved the pool but weren't there every day, we were however at the main builcing at LEAST once a day. So next time we will try to stay in the cabana's or casita's so to be closer to the Main building. But truly it was a magical experience and by all means, like i said if you want to go with what you know you will love ...GREAT! If you want to try something new where i'm almost positive you'll have just as wonderful if not even better (if you can imagine it) time. I'd try CSR

We just return from a trip to CSR last month and it was fabulous! I can't say enough about this resort. The beautiful landscaping, the colorful buildings and everything is so pretty in the evening when the lights come on.

My kids love the pool the best. They spent hours on the slide.

The transit is the best I've experienced at WDW.

Everything was wonderful!

POR is a fabulous resort! I've stayed there twicw and am a little sad to be trying POFQ on our next trip. I know it'll be great because I hear great reviews of it. If I were you I'd stick with POR - you can always try a new one next time!:thumbsup2

I would like to know how to go about getting something closer in Cabana or Casita. I was stuck in Ranchos at CSR also with the LONG walk to everywhere. They said my request for a room near the market or main pool could not be accomodated at check in. This was for a single std room mid week in early June. The resort was not full but there were conventions going on.

I am so sorry to tell you this, there is no way to garuntee a room in casita's or cabana's you're best bet is to request it as early after you make the reservation as possible, and even then it's luck ..entirely luck. When we realized where we were in Rancho's they offered to have us moved later in our vacation if a casita's or cabana's opened up. So while you may not get there in hte begining you could still move to casitas or cabana's part way through your vacation. (which actually could be more lucky that something would become available)
best I can tell you..Sorry!

There is no way to guaranteed a preferred location but make sure you make your requests when booking your trip and follow the instructions from allearsnet.

Does it REALLY matter if you make a building request as early as possible or waited till later on?

CSR has a lot of business conventions doesn't it? That alone makes me feel like it might have less Disney charm.

I sort of talked my DH out of wanting to go there and chose instead POR for its Southern Charm. Maybe someday we'll try CSR.

I would tend to agree with this. WL definitely had more disney charm than CSR although appreciated the larger pool at CSR. WL also closed the pool at 10pm which I thought was way too early but could be seasonal.

CSR is a beautiful resort and you can't take that away from it. If they had good transportation service on those golf carts, I think it would have made some difference. Those guys were frequently buzzing by too fast to stop them or always loaded up - very frustrating.

Just spent time at both last week. POR wins, hands down. It's quiet, and it has a happy, family feel. I enjoyed our walks there, very do-able.

The golf carts at CSR? They whizz by....and whizz by.... They seem to be more for delivering luggage and supplies. That would be fine, if the resort wasn't so humongous. My experience-conventions are the bread and butter of CSR. It's a completely different feel (at least to us).
