OK, here I go again. I have already booked 5 nites AP rate for May, total $1173. Now, the cheap side of me is saying stay at a moderate, have tried POFQ and was very happy and would like to try CSR. So, two questions, did anyone get an AP rate for May for CSR and what can you tell me about it. Is transportation a drag, will have 22 month old son with stroller if that impacts which building, etc.

I always seem to have this problem every time we book, try something new, save money, or go back to old favorite. I am sure some of you can sympathize. Thanks for any input.

:bitelip:

I would say stay at WL. It's so much nicer plus the boat to MK will be so much easier for you with a toddler. CSR is very spread out. If you have to go mod, my suggestion would be POR. However, nothing beats a deluxe. If your budget allows it...stay at WL. :thumbsup2

You can't compare a deluxe with a mod but if you do pick a mod, you have choosen the best. CSR is the closest thing you will get to a deluxe at a mod price.

Best pool, best transportation, beautifully landscaped.

CSR is a large resort that does not share services with other resorts and offers some deluxe amenities because it is a convention resort.

CSR has a salon, spa, and a gym that other moderates do not offer. CSR has full menu room service and offers an internal shuttle system provided by golf carts to assist in getting to and from the main building to the villages.

CSR has terrific transportation. It does not share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 8 at CBR). And since CSR is centrally located, you'll have a quick ride to all the parks.

And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.

THE PROS
  • No sharing bus service with other resorts and only 4 internal stops
  • Centrally located with short rides to the parks
  • Largest hot tub on WDW property
  • BEST main pool area of all the mods with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
  • 3 quiet pools
  • New internal shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
  • High speed internet service
  • WiFi available too
  • Free use of the gym
  • Spa and salon available
  • Coffeemaker in the room
  • Iron and ironing board
  • full room service menu
  • 2 arcades
  • beautifully landscaped
  • central air, not a noisey wall unit
THE CONS
  • double beds, kings size beds and suites are available (wish they had queens beds)
  • only one sink
IN THE MIDDLE
  • The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some guests just don't care for the set up.
  • Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

CSR has the best pool of the mods and probably the second best on WDW property. Best mod pool. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area.

Review from mousesavers.com!!

Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.

The theming is radically different in the three areas of Coronado Springs. You can request a specific area when booking but there is no guarantee you'll get your request.
  • The Spanish-style Casitas at Coronado Springs are very peaceful, with courtyards featuring tiled fountains. Casitas Buildings 1, 3 and 2 (in that order) are the closest to the restaurants and services. Casitas Building 4 contains the salon and health club, if those are important to you.
  • The Cabanas at Coronado Springs have a beachy Caribbean feeling. Cabanas Building 8A is very close to the feature pool, which may be a blessing (convenience) or a curse (noise, light). Cabanas Building 9B is closest to the marina and relatively convenient to the restaurants and services.
  • The Ranchos at Coronado Springs feel quiet and secluded -- some would say isolated -- and feature desert landscaping and pueblo-style architecture. They look closest to the main pool on a map, but in actuality they are separated from the rest of the property by a swamp, so it can be a fairly long walk from these buildings to the pool, and a very long walk to the restaurants.

A THREAD asking the same question as you.

We normally stay at a deluxe WL poly or AKl we just got back from CSR and We LOVED it! Yes it was large lots of walkin gbut we drove, requested a rancho (near the dig and private pool and got it. for smaller kids WL has a better slide larger kiddie area, but for older kids who swim CSR is really a better choise much bigger pool slide, playground etc...
I would not hesitate to stay at eaither one.. (we have stopped staying at WL becasue teh slide is small for a deluxe and our kids love the pool slides!)
AND I had a massage at CSR and it was the BEST one I have ever had on property!
If i was staying on property and had no traspertation not sure if I would choose CSR just becasue there was ALOT of walking and if it was a rainy day room servie is limited, I say try it, thats waht we did and we were pleasently surprised.. Next up for us is SWAN?DOLPHIN have never staye dthere and want to give it a try...

I agree, CSR rocks!!!

We have stayed at both WL and CSR. I can honestly say that I did not feel it was worth the extra money to stay at the WL. Yes the boat launch is nice but you do share it and the busses with FW. The rooms seem to be almost exactly the same size. You do get queen beds in WL vs doubles at CSR. Although CSR is spread out there is a bus stop at each area. At the WL there is the one stop and it could be quite a hike to your room depending on the location. Also, many have reported lately that the WL is in need of repair.

We have also stayed at both the WL then CSR. We love both! CSR is a great moderate to step down to. I thought we would have a hard time with it, but CSR being a convention resort, it is very "deluxe". We found it very comfortable, with many of the deluxe amenities. There is also a privacy curtain that separates the sink from the bedroom area, which is really nice to have. The grounds are beautiful. Don't worry about the stroller, the bus had to load someone at virtually every stop anyway, many wheelchairs, motorized chairs and strollers, we just got used to it. The pool is great, with the kiddie pool next to the big pool, so you can "tag team" easily for who stays with your little one. The buses aren't shared with another resort, which is really nice. Overall, a great resort, we wouldn't hesitate to return there. :goodvibes

As a mother of a child about your age here is why I'd choose WL, for us we love the "all under one roof" concept, it's so much smaller in scale (yet gorgous and big at the same time). You can walk from the buses to your room and if it's pouring down rain you are under cover the ENTIRE time (huge for us with a stroller, etc.) The transportation is excellent and we ALWAYS got a seat on the bus instead of trying to hold a sleeping child while standing on a crowded bus. The bus stop for WL is one of the closest at each park as well. We just love WL and that is why we are returning this summer. Our kids love it too (2 year old and 5 year old), they loved the fountain in the lobby. We're trying for bunkbeds this year which should be fun too. Oh yeah, and the gyser they LOVE and the proximity to FW with the nighttime campfires with Chip and Dale (free) petting zoo, horse rides, etc. The boat to the MK was great too! Just my oppinions as a mother.

A few weeks ago, I was struggling w/ the same resort decision. I finally (with much help from Buzz2001) decided that CSR would be our choice. I will also be traveling w/ a 2 yr. old, and was worried about the stroller issue. However, we requested Cabana 9B which is close to El Centro & a bus stop, and I plan on using the internal transportation to get around the resort.

As much as we loved WL when we ate their last Sept, it is just SOOO much more expensive, and I had to ask myself if it is really worth an extra $100 a night! Especially when CSR has so much to offer...

We are driving, so the transportation to parks didn't factor in as much.
Anyway, good luck with your decision. I feel confident that I made the right one for my family.

I think you should sbsolutely try the WL! We stayed there twice and we love it. It was great with our 2 yo DD. IMO your getting and AP rate so it is worth it to try a deluxe. It's smaller then the mods and has 2 sit down restaurants and a gorgeous lobby. You have to eat at Whisoering Canyon if you haven't already, it's so much fun. Have a nice vacation whatever you decide
