I was originally thinking about upgrading our trip to either CBR or POR...but the more I read about CSR I am now torn bewteen CSR (my choice) and POR (DH's favorite only next to Poly..which we can't afford)! We had originally decided we needed $2500 for the split between All Star Movies and Music....we were doing 2 days at ASMo and then 5 days at ASMu with park hoppers and dining. I have figured we need about $3000 to do the moderate...so now it's just saving up!

So.....2 days at either ASMo or ASMu......then 5 days at either CSR or POR...help me decide between CSR and POR....which do you like better and why?

I have stayed at both and prefer POR over CSR. POR to me, is much more charming and quaint. CSR is very spread out. I found no problems at CSR, but if I had to pick, I would choose POR :flower:

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts and only 4 stops
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
BEST main pool area of all the mods with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

I also like POR better, its very relaxing and quiet.
And the scenery is beautiful around the lake, plus the theme is done quite well IMO. Its one of our favorite moderates.

I agree with the comment that CSR is very spread out. We stayed there for 2 nights last July. On the plus side, the food at the Pepper Market is extremely good, and the prices are pretty reasonable. On the negetive side you might have a 10-15 minute walk to the Main Pool, depending what building you are in. And your either close to the main pool, or the clubhouse.. Or right in the middle. In terms of accomadations we had a king size bed, it was a very quiet resort compared to the All Stars, was very relaxing..

You will get many different opinions. IMHO what would you use more.

Boat to DTD. Carriage ride? Pool at CSR? LAke activities at CSR?? Do you like long walks...can happen at CSR??

IMHO the Pepper market is a PIA :rotfl: ! But you may think differently.

Personally without kids i would do POR the grounds are nicer again IMHO!

I have never been to CSR. We just got back from POR and LOVED IT!!!! We chose it because we like the deluxes but weren't willing to spend the money this time and this hotel had been billed as the next best thing. We stayed on the mansion side (Oak Manor) and loved this place. The grounds are beautiful, there are tons of activities, we loved the boat to DTD, we loved Bob the Piano Player, liked the food court, Loved Boatrights for breakfast, had no problem with the buses (about 5 minute waits and we almost always got a seat)... I could go on and on.

Also, not sure if this was exclusive to our trip, but POR did not share a bus with FQ to and from the Magic Kingdom. One thing that did surprise me about buses was that the Boardwalk shares with the Swan and Dolphin!! I could not believe how long it took us to get from the Boardwalk to Magic Kingdom one evening!!! (But thats a story for another thread)

Hope this helps!!

Just a reminder, there are shuttle carts at CSR that come around frequently if you don't feel like walking. We found them to be very convenient. This pretty much eliminates the "too spread out" mantra regarding CSR.

I've stayed at both and prefer CSR. I just think the resort is prettier. I thought POR was more spread out than CSR. Also, the bus service at CSR was significantly better. The buses at POR were always full. At CSR, we always had a seat and never had to wait for a second bus. The only thing I liked better at POR was Boatwrights and the food court.

I agree, we have stayed at both and love CSR! Definitely a prettier resort. My DD and DS love the pool and slide. Bus service is much better at CSR and POR is just as spread out as CSR but CSR offers a internal shuttle system using golf carts.

We have decided to go with ASMu for our first 2 nights and POR for the remaining 5! I am so excited!

We've stayed at both and CSR is our favorite by far!!! The resort is beautiful, fountains, landscaping, the pool and slide are great. We love the Pepper Market for the variety and good food. I know people keep saying it's a huge, spread out resort, but we had a room in June 2004 clear in the back of the hotel and it was only a 5 - 6 minute walk to El Centro for us, which at night was beautiful!!! We love CSR after our 2 visits and will be heading there again in August... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Buzz2001 - I can't argue between the two resorts because I have only been at POR but I wanted a chance to say I LOVE YOUR PICTURES!! I am amazed at the shots that you were able to get! :worship:

Anyhow, I am a big fan of POR. The resort is laid back and beautiful. I would highly recommend getting a room near the main building since it is pretty spread out and it gets to be quite a walk. Whatever you decide, ENJOY! :goodvibes
