We're heading to WDW in March as a family member will be there for a conference and we were able to add on a vacation week for the whole family. The conference will be at CR with half the attendees staying at CR and half at CSR.

So... we'd been booked in 2 rooms at CSR and we're really looking forward to it. I've done lots of research into the resort and it looks so beautiful and peaceful for us adults and our 4 kids to enjoy.

I just got a message from the conference organizer that they're going to move us to CR at no extra expense.

Now I'm torn. Is the CR beautiful and relaxing with a serene getaway feel like CSR?

Thoughts?? Which would you choose?

No The themeing at CR is very different than that at CSR. It will not have the same feel.
That said, I would definitely choose the CR this trip. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to stay in the heart of the action on the Monorail. The ability for a leisurely walk to the MK alone is worth it to me. And being on the Monorail is so convenient.
The CR is a beautiful resort, just different than CSR
Enjoy

Same price? CR hands down.

Access to the monorail, interior hallways, better eats, and a much smaller footprint (less walking).

I know money isn't everything, but just look at the price difference between the two resorts! You are getting a major upgrade. It's definitely not serene or relaxing, definitely a more "right in the heart of the action" resort, but I would take the upgrade!

Hmm, you've all given great reasons to pick CR! I'm still a little torn, though, because I think we'd really love for the hotel part to be serene and relaxing, since we'll probably be overwhelmed by it all while we're in the parks. Does CR feel busy and noisy?

I see what you mean, but if you maybe look at it another way... an extra hour in bed is relaxing, on your MK days you'll have a 5 minute walk, not wait 20 mins for a bus, that will then possibly make four stops around the property, then the journey to MK. The thought of a 5 minute walk back at night is much more relaxing than waiting for the buses with masses then followed by a possibly long walk through the resort. I think convenience always makes Disney a more easy and relaxing.

Those are super valid points!

Imagine just being able to hop on the monorail and go for drinks at Trader Sams! Meals at Ohana and the GF. California Grill! You can watch the fireworks without even leaving your hotel! Sounds amazing to me :)

Hmmm, I'd be torn about that one. Others have made valid points, CR is a deluxe resort and is within walking distance to MK but it's very contemporary (for lack of a better word) style conference looking hotel. I've actually turned down staying there for less on more than one occasion because I just can't get over the look and feel of the place (plus I get lost every time I go). There is no lobby per se and the food/gift shop area is big and loud. Now having the monorail go smack dab through the center of your hotel is pretty high on the cool factor and if you plan on spending more time at MK there is that bonus. If you plan on spending time at the other parks, you are going to have to bus to AK (which you have to do from everywhere) and HS. You have to monorail to Epcot unless the monorail is down, then they provide buses. My problem with having to monorail to Epcot is first you have to stop at TTC and switch monorails which tends to be like the running of the bulls and second, the monorail can and does have delays, which can be as long as 20 minutes and you are stuck. I avoid it if I can, heck I've been known to boat over to MK and catch a bus to Epcot or one of the Epcot resorts just to avoid the darn thing.

I think if you've never stayed at CR and don't ever plan on being able to stay there, it might be worth the upgrade just for the experience. For us, it was a one and done thing, and we were on concierge with a free upgrade. I would maybe check out some of the UTUBE videos of both resorts so you can decide.

At no extra expense, I'd def. do CR. It's a deluxe as opposed to a mod, within walking distance of MK and you can take the monorail to Epcot. I'd def. stay at CR.

Not at the pool, the beach or your room. Yes, the 4th floor (gift shops, Chef Mickeys, food court) can seem a little hectic and busy at times, but you don't have to spend a lot of time there.

Thanks for weighing in, everyone! I really appreciate having all this input from people who have been there and have more than the photos to go on. :goodvibes

CSR is very nice and we love the pool there, but I'd definitely stay at CR for the convenience factor alone. That will save a lot of time going to MK and even to Epcot on the monorail. I also prefer the dining options at CR, and you have a quick boat ride to WL and FW for even more dining options at your disposal.

I'M convinced, we'll give CT a go! I'm sure we'll love it. I doubt we'll be going to Disney anytime soon and will probably not have another opportunity to stay in a deluxe resort, so would likely regret missing this one.
