Disney to double meeting space at Coronado Springs Resort

A new 86,000-square-foot exhibit hall opening in spring 2005 will expand Disney's largest convention hotel to 221,000 square feet of meeting space. The move makes the 1,912-room Coronado Springs Resort the largest Disney-operated convention hotel on the property and the third largest in the region.
The hotel already has the largest ballroom in the Southeast at 60,000 square feet, according to a spokesman. However, additional exhibit space has been in demand for some time.
The entire meeting facility will be located on one level. The room is equipped with wireless technology, allowing Internet access through the entire room. A permanent power grid is designed into the floor of the hall, providing electrical outlets every 30 feet as well and water and compressed air connections scattered throughout the room. Six loading docks are planned to supplement the 10 already in place.
The resort's themed design uses architectural features found in the American Southwest and in North Mexico. Coronado Springs opened in 1997.
