CSR Internal Shuttle and Bus Stop Questions

Six of us are planning on staying at the CSR in Sept. '09. While my husband and I don't mind walking, the size of this resort may be intimidating to my parents. How frequently does the internal shuttle loop around?

Also, while Cabana 9B is preferred for obvious reasons, it's bus stop is the last on the loop. Are buses often filled to capacity by the time they reach this stop?

Thanks!

I requested a room near the food court/main bus stop - and we found that it was the most convenient. We stayed in Casitas. The main bus stop is right by the lobby - all the other bus stops were past the parking lot - there was a walk and we found that very annoying. No matter what hotel we say at, when I book the room, I ask for a room near the food court/bus stop. They don't guarantee it but they've never let me down yet.

Here are my pictures and review of the resort --> Coronado Springs

We like to stay in Ranchos 6A. There is a short (3 rows, I think) parking lot between bus stop #3 and the entrance to the building, and the elevator is right there when you walk around the corner. With the exception of DTD buses, the buses stop at bus stop 2,3,4, then 1. We hardly ever found the buses crowded when coming to our stop, but it usually packs out at #1. The walk from Ranchos is less than 5 minutes to the main pool at a leisurely pace, and less than 10 minutes to El Centro. Because the grounds are so beautiful, this is a very nice walk - especially at night when the lights around the lake are lit. However, if walking is an issue, there is an easy solution: As all buses (except DTD) stop at El Centro last, you can hop any bus at your stop, and get back off at El Centro. To get back to your room, wait for the DTD bus, as it stops at 1 first, then goes around the loop to the other stops. The internal shuttle is nice, but only available during the day. We have always found the buses the quickest way to get to the front of the resort.

BTW... don't let the size of the resort scare you. CSR has less rooms than the values in a much larger area. This gives the resort a very peaceful, quiet feel. On several occasions, we walked around the lake and only saw a handful of people!

Thanks for the great info! I'm really looking forward to trying this resort. Those who love it can't say enough about it. :)

Are the internal shuttles constantly going around or is their usually a wait for them? I just need to assure my folks that it won't be a big deal between the shuttle and the buses if we don't get a prime location. Thanks!

We aw the shuttles some, but not a ton, and the stop is in the sun (at least the Ranchos one is.) The bus stops are covered, and really the easiest way around the resort.

As for being a favorite... my DD5 cried when she found out we weren't staying at "our hotel" for our vacation this year! She said we could go on the cruise by ourselves, she would be at Coronado Springs. I asked her how she was going to get around, and she says "I know how to ride the bus, Mom!" I think you will really love this resort!

I just stayed at CSR last week. We were in the Casitas building #3 and we're very close to the food/lobby area. I would request to be put into the Casitas area. It was much quicker walking to the food court then to take the bus.

We got on the buses at bus stop #2 - casitas which is actually the first stop for buses coming in. On quite a few occasions the buses were full by the time they got to the el centro (front lobby) bus stop which didn't make the huge amount of people at that stop happy. We felt it was easier to get on at stop #2 even through we had to walk across the parking lot to get to it. Also if the bus is packed and you're riding it around to el centro make sure the bus driver knows you'll be getting off at el centro. Two times last week the bus was packed and someone had to yell at the driver to open the back door to let them off at el centro. One time the driver just pulled up and started rolling around without opening any doors. The poor family next to me was yelling that they needed to get off.

By the way its a great resort and definitely my favorite moderate resort now.

Wanted to add we never saw any courtsey shuttles. We walked to the main pool and back several times a day and I ran the pathway every day. Never did I see any shuttles/golf carts except the ones that mousekeeping uses.

I agree - we didn't see any either.

I'm torn between the Casitas and the Cabanas. My daughter will be nearly six and I know we will be spending some time at the dig site. Yet, the location of the casitas to the #2 bus stop and El Centro is pretty nice. Well I guess since I don't mind walking, the Casitas makes most sense or even Cabana 8A since it's right near a bus stop.:confused3 good thing I have 14 months to work this out!

I asked about the shuttles when I was there this month and was told they were just used by the bell hops to take people and luggage between El Centro and their rooms. I saw no mention of an internal shuttle at the bus stops either, just instructions on using the Disney buses to get around as mentioned.

There are benches around on the walking paths that are shuttle stops during the day. The carts with a light on top are the ones used to take guests to resorts for ME arrivals only. Any other cart, including the mousekeeping, will give you a lift if you flag them down. That being said, I still think the bus to the front is the fastest, and walking is easiest!

Passenger shuttle transport about the resort varies according to the convention groups. CSR is experimenting with transportation geared to their leisure guests; but have not been able to satisfy many guest’s expectations. They were getting more complaints about the inadequacy of the shuttle service, no matter how many they had running, than they did when none were available; CSR decided that less transport service (or none) was strangely being better accepted by our guests than what we realistically could offer as a service. CSR is currently experimenting with different frequencies of shuttle runs and service times, including none at all, to see what generates the best feedback. Right now, we cannot say for certain that there will be any shuttle transport, with the exception of the regular park buses running between resort areas on the perimeter of the resort (Coronado circle). No other WDW resort has even attempted to provide guest shuttle transport (via golf carts) within any resort, other than CSR. The best thing to do is provide feedback to the resort, that goes for anything, not just shuttles.

Odd that none is better some. Thanks for the update. Is there an email address for the resort to comment directly?
