CSR booked for August!!!

We booked with POR because we have stayed there before and enjoyed it and thought that since my mom is coming with us ( a family of four with a 7 and 5 year old) that we could all share a room (although we booked adjoining rooms incase. Since then I figured adjoining rooms are probably best as five people for a week in one room could be a little much for anyone - especially when it comes to changing etc. I have been reading everything I can about CSR because I thought it might be nice to try something new and as my kids are older a bigger slide would probably appeal this year (although we have waterparks and more option so I don't know how much time will be spent at the pool). Anyway, it is full for August 5-11 - I can't believe it! I figure some reservations are probably hoping that dining plan is offered and they might cancel if it isn't (we got dining plan included as my mom visisted in Nov.) but does this mean we just have to keep calling? Now I am totally hooked on CSR and feeling disappointed about staying at POR again.

I think it's odd that it's booked so early. Perhaps it's booked beginning Aug. 5 because Aug. 5th is the beginning of value season? Or perhaps a big convention blocked a bunch of rooms, as CSR is a convention resort?

It might not be good for those hoping for free dining in August if rooms are already full.

Or the bounce back program had a big effect on the availability??

I think this is the timeframe (August-September) that the UK free dining offer is on. A lot of people in the UK have taken up this offer and are staying at the moderates.

You're both right. The UK guests and the bounce-back people may have booked a lot of mods for their free dining. We'll have to wait and see if free dining will be extended to the general public.

OP, keep trying for a room. People cancel vacations all of the time and you might get lucky with a last minute opening.

I am going Aug 8-12 and there are several conventions at CSR during that time, so that may have something to do with it too.

I remember a few years ago being unable to get CSR for late August. I went with CBR feeling very disappointed. Closer to my trip date I did notice that rooms in CSR became available. I do think they block rooms for a convention. I have never had much luck getting CSR with the free dining.

They do block rooms for conventions and once the final date passes for booking a room, they will release them back to the general public.

When I made our reservations for our August 2006 stay at CSR in March of that year, all the standard view rooms were already booked, so I had to pay a little extra for a water view room there. I checked back in several months later and there were standard rooms open again for our days. I would keep trying, because I figure in this case they must have been holding those standard view rooms and opened them back up later.
I did end up staying with the water view because I just didn't feel like changing my reservation, and we ended up loving our view of the lake.

Does that mean that in order to get free dining you had to go to a different resort(s). Where did you end up going?
