CSR Appearing less crowded?

I have heard that CSR is better for the transportation and appears less crowded because of their being conferences there often. I know that they have a huge conference center, as I have attended a conference there myself. Being as our sessions were all day/night long we only went to a park one day, MK.

Do you think that enough of the guests are really only there for conferences which in turn would mean less crowded pools and less people trying to get on the buses? Both to and from? Anyone experienced this resort, and have thoughts about this?

Or is this just misjudged thinking?
We want to stay at a moderate resort, and while CSR wasn't my fav. but if these things were true (especially the whole bus not as crowded thing) I may have to think about using this resort.

That's been my experience. The bigger the convention the less crowded the pool and buses are. The only time that usually isn't like that is around the holidays (X-mas and New Years).

Mind you its been awhile since we stayed there, but the buses were not crowded, and they don't share with other resorts. The bar, pool, and hot tub were crowded at night when the convention was over.

Does anyone know if there would be a list of conventions going on. Like that are booked in advance or that happen every year for May 2008?

We never stayed at CSR but we stopped by for lunch at the Pepper Market once and it certainly didn't look less crowded. The conference had just let out and there were people EVERYWHERE!! People were perched on every ledge, around every fountain, on every bench. There was a pile of luggage in the entry that was at least five feet around and nine feet tall (reminded me of the duffle bag scene in Parent Trap). We went inside but quickly realized that the Pepper Market wasn't going to be an option for lunch; the line was really long and the lounge was FULL of people too.

That's the one and only reason we won't stay at CSR. It wasn't a pleasent vacation expirience.

The pool and buses are less crowded but not necessarily the Pepper Market.

Of course the Pepper Market will be crowded if a conference has just let out.:sad2: Overall though, the crowds are minimal.
No crowded busses
No crowded pools
No crowded Pepper Market (if you plan around conference breaks)

CSR is our favorite onsite hotel! We like the Swan better but it's not considered onsite.

I wouldn't want to plan my vacation around someone elses conference schedule.

BTW - The buses were crowed too. We had to wait for a bus to take us to a park and transfer over to POP where we eventually had lunch. It took quite a while to get a bus that wasn't over full so I could sit down (I can't stand on buses - injuries). When we did get a bus one of the participants said the confernce was so big that a lot of the attendees were staying at other resorts thus the crowded buses - everyone was trying to get back to their resort.

I'm fairly certain this was a very big conference for CSR, but I wouldn't want to take the chance. I would have been miserable with all of those people always around; kind of like I don't stay at the Allstars because of the reports of youth groups (football, cheerleading, etc)

Considering not many resorts offer non-shared transportation (CSR, POP, AKL, CBR), we have always found it to be the best among the resorts we stayed at. Not sharing is a major plus for us. The conventions just make it that much better. We've never had any issues with a convention guests while we were staying at CSR. CSR is just one of many the convention resorts at WDW (GF, CONT, BW, Y&BC and the Swan & Dolphin). The buses are usually very timely and not crowded, at least that has been my experience. :thumbsup2

I totally agree. I've been to plenty of conventions, and the last thing I really want to do on vacation is deal with conventioneers, or even fairly large convention planning groups. Since we experience this enough in real life, we want a regular Disney resort for our vacations. I do think it would be nice if CSR rooms were booked at a discount rate for "regular" folks. They do need to fill the rooms between the convention room blocks, and a price break would
be something nice to offer to offset the possible inconvenience/noise.
