CSR Already Booked for January Marathon Weekend!

Hi,

We thought we had finally made a decision on where to stay for January Marathon. We decided on CSR, two rooms, for my family and my in-laws.
Imagine my surprise when I tried to book it this morning and was told that except for suites it was all booked! I hurredily booked POFQ just so we would definitely have somewhere to stay, but when DH came home we decided to switch to WL. Just a heads up, I don't know how the other resorts are filling up.

Because the marathons are being run over two days next year, it's highly likely that the resorts will be pretty well sold out as people stay the entire weekend.

Well that's what I get for taking too long to make up my mind. We've never stayed moderate and with my in-laws coming the allure of moderate prices (especially with an AP discount hopefully) was too great to pass up. We've heard CSR referred to as deluxe lite so we thought we'd take a chance. Well I've always wanted to try WL so I'm excited. We're making it a mini-vacation, Jan. 6-11 so I guess a lot of people had the same idea. We'll be there in July and I still want to go and have a look at CSR for some future date.

Actually, WL is more akin to "deluxe lite" IMHO. CSR is a moderate with a few extra amenities.

We had planned on CSR for our trip in November/Dec but it was all sold out except for suites over a month ago. It is a convention resort, and I think they take up alot of rooms.

Oh no! I am waiting to here back from a recommended travel specialist. She is putting together a few packages for me to choose from. The only resort I have even thoroughly researched is the YC. I sure hope it is not sold out.

Are the rates you were given still value season? Or is that weekend a higher rate?

It is still value season. I'm glad I booked something because it seems like its going to be really busy. An earlier poster remarked that they were sold out of AK standard rooms for that weekend.

Just a heads up - I just changed our reservation to WL and standard was already sold out. We booked woods view (hopefully change it to courtyard if APS rates come out). THey also had courtyard views left.

YIKES! We called to check rates at POR this morning and it was still available. We were going to hold off on booking--but that is looking like it is NOT an option

I do know that the marathon teams are able to book group rooms---and that TNT books the largets amount--we were at POR, POFQ, and CBR last time around. Wonder if maybe they bit the bullet and took all the Coronado rooms.

Sorry--not the Wish Boards.

TNT is Team in Training which fundraises for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society--they had about 2000 runners last year--which means at least 1000 rooms.

I don't know when they book them---but I'm guessing they must have some kind of ongoing planning b/c booking that many rooms close to an event would be nearly impossible when trying to get teams close in proximity with one another.

WOW! I had no idea it would be that crowded (room-wize) in early January.

We haven't even decided where we want to stay! Do all the hotels fill up?
