Wow, some real bashing of CS at HS. Any resorts that are a quick walk away that would be good for a CS lunch? Not picky but I haven't heard one good thing about HS...we're having a later dinner at Sci-Fi (again, not the best reviews but I think the atmosphere will be neat). thanks

Apparently Starring Rolls has some good options and Backlot Express is also OK...I didn't enjoy the Commissary. I've heard people complain about Pizza Planet as well, however we like it just fine and being able to get a salad with a pizza on the DDP is great for us. We're eating CS at DHS twice on this upcoming trip...likely Starring Rolls and our dessert will be a snack for later on in the day.

As for resorts nearby, there are quite a few and taking a boat might be a nice adventure in itself (it seems like walking to the resorts isn't normally an option). That stated, I haven't done it and have no advice for that part of your question...I'll be checking back for the responses, though. :goodvibes

Starring Rolls is very good. Everyone seems to miss it for some odd reason.

Starring Rolls and Pizza Planet in HS. Boardwalk Bakery outside of HS at Boardwalk. We like any of the three above. My DW likes to stay inside the park instead of trekking the kids out of the park and going through security again. :cool1:

This isn't a counter service location but if you want to eat somehwere close to Hollwood Studios, I would highly recommend going to the Beach Club and trying Beaches & Cream.

We were on DDP this year and experienced some really awful CS all over WDW - not just at HS. HS gets a bad rap - not that any of its CS are great, just that they aren't any worse than what you'd get at MK.

Especially true for kids - try getting something other than chicken fingers a grilled cheese or a pb&j at MK.

Pizza planet doesn't have the best pizza you've ever had, but it's fine. Also, Starring Roles has some good sandwiches.

There is no CS close enough to justify a trip.

However Starring Rolls has good sandwiches, but no variety.

We do table service only at DHS. If cost is a concern, Sci Fi burger and fries don't cost a whole lot more than counter service.

Pizza planet is OK along with Starring Rolls. Also, I think you'll be happy with SciFi. We really went in with low expectations and ended up enjoying ourselves enough to want to return for our upcoming trip. We ordered simple stuff. I really liked their ruben and fries...DH got the bacon cheeseburger I think and the fries were good. All our food was fresh :) We also got the spinach dip with chips and ended up fighting over it as the kids seemed to really enjoy that as well LOL.

The food court on Sunset Boulevard might not be a bad option. I thought the pizza there was just as good, if not maybe a little better, than Pizza Planet.
