Where's the best CS dining locations in the DL park, the hotels and DD?

Can you tell us little more about what type of food you like and what you consider CS?

There is quick serve where you pick up your food in a cafeteria style restaurant (ex. Tiana's, Plaza Inn, Rancho del Zocalo), pay the cashier, and find your own seat in the restaurant. There are also restaurants where you go to the window, order food and carry your food to a table that is not specifically for that restaurant (ex. San Fransokyo, Paradise Gardens, most of DTD window service). DLR is much better about having seating available than WDW.

The only hotel that is really convenient to the parks is the Grand Californian. Right now, the restaurants are being refurbished so it is a bit chaotic.

Well in WDW these are some of my not to miss CS locations. Polite Pig, Sauli Canteen, Captain Cooks, Sunshine Seasons, Gasparilla Grill. All CS locations and all have above average food, to me anyways.

I like the quick service at the Grand Californian. Other places that I prefer are Jolly Holiday (grilled cheese and basically everything), Plaza Inn (Penne Pasta with Chicken), and Rancho Del Zolcalo in Disneyland. In DCA I sometimes like Paradise Garden Grill (menu changes often).

Some of our favorites...
  • Plaza Inn (DL) - fried chicken or the cobb salad
  • Aunt Cass's (DCA) - bread bowl soups
  • Troubadour Tavern (DL) - baked potatoes
  • Harbour Galley (DL) - the chocolate chip cookies
  • Jolly Holiday (DL) - cinnamon rolls in the AM, grilled cheese w/ tomato soup
  • Cozy Cone (DCA) - soft serve ice cream cones
  • Earl f Sandwich (DTD - right near park entrance)
  • Lucky Fortune (DCA) - terriyaki chicken with rice

We eat an allergy friendly diet and these are our faves.

DL - Red Rose Taverne, Ronto Roasters
DCA - Cocina Cucumonga Grill, Pym Test Kitchen

My favorites:

Plaza Inn - Fried chicken

Alien Pizza Planet - Not a fan of the pizza. But I love the Chicken Fusilli. My pre-teen son was a huge fan of the Chicken Sesame-Ginger Noodles and Vegetables.

Rancho del Zocalo - Love the Pollo Asado

Paradise Garden Grill - They change their menu often but we've found good things here before.

We don't eat at Downtown Disney much but I'm sure there are some good options there as well.

I don't know if you are including CA, but I will list my favorites:

DL: Tropical Hideaway (bao buns), Little Red Wagon (corn dogs)
CA: Aunt Cass Cafe (sourdough bread), Award Wieners (hot dogs - lots of toppings)
DTD: Earl of Sandwich - hands down the best value for CS in DLR - great sandwiches!

CA: Aunt Cass Cafe (sourdough bread)
Note that in addition to getting a bread bowl filled with soup, you can also buy loaves of Boudin sourdough to take home. They have a cute Mickey-head loaf, and I think a Baymax loaf (sorry, I'm not familiar with that movie), but if you just want good bread, you can buy a less-expensive loaf-shaped loaf. Or two. (They freeze well.)
:-)

I still remember when they would give you the whole loaves of Mickey sourdough loaves after going through the tour at the bread factory and the tortillas when they still had the tortilla factory.

Can you use a DGCard to pay for dining in DD, even if it's not an actual Disney location? Or do I need to bring a bit more cash for those places?
