CS Exclusions on DDP?

"They are already excluding some of the larger CS meals from DDP. THank goodness! Now those of us who pay OOP won't be so ripped off."

Is this true - and if so, what CS meals are being excluded? I'm just wondering if new changes are in effect that we need to be aware of.

I don't know of any specific CS meals that are being excluded. There are some specific items that have always been excluded from the DDP, like the rotisserie chicken at Tangierine.

Ok, I realize it's way past my bed time, but what does that person mean by saying if a meal is excluded from the plan, those NOT on the plan won't be ripped off? If a meal is $10, it's still going to be $10 whether it's 'allowed' or not.

If this makes sense to anyone, can you please take a minute and explain it to my tired brain??

I don't get it. If you're paying for the dining plan, you're paying out of pocket, just in advance. Nobody's stopping people from buying the dining plan.

I dont know if this qualifies, but during our recent trip in January I noticed that at Harry Ramsdens in the UK the fish and chips platter did not have the DDP symbol next to it and we were told that it wasn't available under the DDP. We could get fish or chips but not both. Kinda sucks huh? That was one of very few CS meals that we went out of our way to get. Maybe they changed their tune since then. Anyone notice that recently?

Sorry--nothing of value to add--but this just cracks me up. When I think of going to London, I always think of indulging in a delicious fish or chips dinner. Mmmm. . . fish or chips.

Maybe this is the adult version of the new "healthy" kids' menu. Only one fried food per meal!

I'm wondering -- is it because the fish and chips aren't considered a CS credit, but a snack? If the two together were a "snack" but over the $4 limit, that would be why you could only purchase them individually using snack credits. No idea if that's the case, but it's a thought. It does seem kind of odd, because it's $7.99 for fish and chips which is right in line with a typical CS meal, but who knows. A lot of the restaurants are owned by companies other than Disney, and sometimes their rules are a bit quirky.

Chrisy: I'm not tired, and no, it doesn't make sense to me either But since that's not the topic of this thread, I'll refrain from further comment.

Thats mad because it means you can't use CS credit at that cs service station because that is the ONLY meal they serve!!!!!!!! Thats odd just looked at the list of disney resteraunts and its not on it at all.

I'm the one that said that.

I'll explain. With the advent of the DDP, WDW has been ratcheting down the portion sizes and quality of the meals, but they've left the prices the same!

If they exclude some items, hopefully those items will retain the quality and quantity being stripped off the menu by the DDP.

You do know that resteraunts have been nagged at to reduce portion size due to the obbesity epidemic in America? Why is everything due to the DDP? Has anyone else noticed that the Yorkshire County fish shop is no longer on the resteraunt list (and I don't mean the ddp list I mean the main list of resteraunts)

Also, keep in mind that with inflation running 3%, keeping actual prices the same actually constitutes an effective price decrease. (The Dining Plan itself has, on average, increased in price significantly less than 3% since it started, so that's effectively like a 4% price decrease!)

We were at Disney this past week and Caseys Corner didn't let us get fries with our meal. They said it didn't come with the CS. So I guess they are now considering ketchup your side.

OK, We did have the fish and chips as CS on the DDP the end of January. I was grumpy because our fish was really small and the amount of chips was really small as well. The desert was a small pack of the shortbread cookies. We did not find it one of our favorite or a good value on the DDp but we were able to get it.

We almost always share two CS meals for three people and with using Snack credits use the DDP for all meals and snacks. I hope that the larger meals are not excluded, we so enjoyed the ribs and chicken meal at MK, and make two double burgers into a fine meal for three. The extra CS meals make our breakfast.

Sides were never included with the DDP CS credit. A combo meal or an entree, if there is no combo meal Like Casey's, where everything is a la carte then your CS should be a hotdog, drink and dessert. I know they were giving the fries last year, but when I ordered I didn't expect that I would get them. This is not a good value for your CS credit, that is true, but even when they were part of the meal voucher plan you were not even breaking even with the $11.00. BTW the value of a hot dog, brownie and drink with tax is about $9.00. It is not a huge difference from the $10.00 break even point. I think you can use a snack credit for the fries if you wanted to. For us I will pay OOP for just Hotdogs so for the four of us it will be about $17.00. We'll then get a bigger snack since we'll have room for it!

We toured in Ireland and got a 3 course sit down dinner every night as part of our package. We ate in some very nice hotels, and the portions were perfect -- everyone felt satisfied after their meals, but not stuffed. American portion sizes in some restaurants in particular can be ridiculous.

I also noticed that Yorkshire County Fish Shop isn't on the list of restaurants at all on the official WDW website. It's listed in the DDP brochure as having both QS meals and snacks available. I know they were doing some remodeling in the UK section...I saw a picture on another site taken September 8 2006 that showed it behind a construction fence. Did they close down the shop?

CS meals don't come with sides. From the Dining Plan FAQ:

Your Counter Service (or Quick Service) Meal includes one single serving:

Breakfast: Entrée, Non-alcoholic beverage
Lunch: Entrée, Dessert, Non-alcoholic beverage
Dinner: Entrée, Dessert, Non-alcoholic beverage​

OR

Breakfast: one Combo Meal, Non-alcoholic beverage
Lunch: one Combo Meal, Dessert, Non-alcoholic beverage
Dinner: one Combo Meal, Dessert, Non-alcoholic beverage​

Casey's doesn't have any Combo Meals (see the menu here) so according to the Dining Plan rules, fries should never have been included in Dining Plan meals at Casey's... they should always have been an additional charge.
