We are planning a last minute trip on 9/19-21 for my DD birthday. I was praying for Cindy's ressies (okay, stop laughing), but did grab a cancelation for Crystal Palace at 8:15 a.m.

I have never been there. Can anyone give me info. Food? Characters?

The players will be DD 9 DS 11 and DD best friend 10 who has never been to Disney (gasp:eek: ). Oh, and us parent type people.

Oh, I almost forgot. Our ressies are before the park opens. How long does the breakfast usually last. What happens if we are done before the park opens? Can we walk around?

Congrats on the ressies. I for one would never mock you for trying. On our last trip we had one morning before our cruise that would have been possible to eat at CRT. I gave my husband strict instructions to wake me up. (Mountain time zone do the math!) He leaves for work every day before 5:30. Well he said I looked so peaceful that he wanted to let me get 15 more minutes sleep. Aaaarggh! Of course I missed getting the table! There I feel better just sharing my story.

To answer your questions:
The characters are Pooh and friends. The last time we were there Tigger, Piglet and I think Eyeore came around to the table. Pooh held court in the center area. The food was the basic breakfast offering of bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, pastries etc but it was tasty. The setting is beautiful. I think especially your sons may enjoy this breakfast more than the other one although I understand it is a special day for your daughter. As far as how long the meal lasts depends a lot on the speed of the eaters. I'm guessing it takes roughly about an hour for the characters to make a circuit around the room. My husband tends to eat slowly so I can't answer what a "normal" family might do.;) Not sure if you could walk around. My guess is that they would stop you at some kind of rope drop. Wish I was going in a couple of weeks. Have fun!

This is our all time favorite meal in all of WDW!!!! We go at least twice each trip. Great food, beautiful atmosphere and the best character interaction around!!! You will not be disappointed.

P.S. We also did Cindy's and thought it was extremely overrated.... horrible food and non existent character interaction. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day but we won't be returning.
