the menu online for CP dinner is pretty vague... Is it very similar to lunch? We did lunch there 2 summers ago and we enjoyed it (nothing spectacular but not awful). We're considering dinner one night there this fall. The menus are so vague though!!!!

We just ate there for dinner last week. Avoid this place. The food is not good.

I had been there before and know it is just so-so.
I am not a picky eater, and I kept telling myself for worst I can eat pasta and corn like the kids and I am all happy.
This time, it's not happening there. The pasta tasted bad, the corn low quality, dry and hard. The Cesar Salad not fresh, like it had been siting there for a day. The Clam Chowder soup is so thick and salty it is like the sauce on pasta: not edible. Don't get me wrong, it is a new pot of Clam Chowder, not the bottom of the pot.

I won't return to this place!! I simply can't because there is nothing to eat!!
Characters are ok if you have to see the Pooh and Friends.

That was our experience last year (and BONUS, the service was poor too). Not horrible food, but not fresh or good. But DS ADORED the Pooh characters so, as much as I hate to waste time and money on a not good meal ... he'll only be this age once. I had hope because I've seen people say they've had good meals there recently, but I'm starting to think it's breakfast that they do okay with and the third string comes on for dinner (I'd love to hear if anyone has had a good dinner there though!).

As to what they serve, traditional American fare.

I'm sorry to say that I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the food was not good at all last year. We made our ADRs last month and I was feeling like I should give it another shot for dinner this year cause I read so many great reviews about CP. Luckily, after many many many discussions and posts on this board, we decided that we will try Liberty Tree for the first time instead, on the night of the first MNSSHP. We are definitely looking forward to it!
Oh, BTW, I think dinner is the same as lunch used to be except there is peel and eat shrimp added.

While it's been a few years, we have eaten both lunch and dinner there. I found the food to be fairly similar and didn't love either one, but I'm also not a fan of the food quality on Disney lunch and dinner buffets and was strictly doing this for the characters. Since then, we stick to breakfast.

We had dinner there this past August (2015) and I was pleasantly surprised with the food. My understanding is it's basically the same at lunch and dinner. We booked a same day dinner ADR when it popped up which allowed us to cancel a pre-park open breakfast I'd previously booked the morning after a late night accidently so I still got my Pooh Bear fix and the food was pretty good. Not outstanding but not awful by any stretch. It was fresh and replenished often. We'd go back to dinner again if I can't make a pre-park open breakfast work.

We have an ADR booked at CP for dinner in June. We've had breakfast here, but never lunch or dinner. I am hearing mixed reviews on the food. I am looking forward to the character interactions, though. But I would also like to know what they serve at the buffet because I agree with DisneyLove2015: the menu on disneyworld.com is extremely vague. Curious to hear about other DISers dinner experiences here, as well.

Surprised to hear so many disappointed with CP. My experience has always been great.

I've taken groups of 5 to 7 twice each trip in 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2015, always for dinner, and everyone in my party always considers this along with Ohana our best TS meals. Our stays are always 14 days and we frequent most other popular TS locales and CP and a day in MK is always how we try to begin and end a trip.

It's not easy to get, either. So take that into consideration as well.

As for the difference between lunch and dinner, I doubt you'd notice. Most TS restaurants serve very similar dishes for both lunch and dinner, especially the buffets. They will have 3 types of meat at the carving station, fish, chicken and pork dishes in the buffet, along with a variety of casserole type dishes, peal and eat shrimp, soups, salads and kids selections. Extensive desserts with soft serve ice cream as well.

Character buffets have recently gone to a combined lunch/dinner menu. The menu should be exactly the same for lunch and dinner as the COST is now the same from lunch on through the day. In the past, CP had some carved meats and maybe a seafood offering at dinner that they didn't have at lunch. One assumes they will now have them all day long after breakfast is removed.
