Crystal Palace - Dinner

We are treating our ds to Crystal Palace for his birthday dinner (week late). He absolutel LOVES Tiger and Pooh... he's turning 4 and has a Tigger and Pooh he carries with him daily since he was a year old.

What are the must eats on the dinner menu?

Any thoughts on the food, characters, etc?

We have a 6:10 reservation.

We love Crystal Palace, especially for dinner. It is my favorite meal of the trip!
The characters are always awesome and usually take time for pictures and hugs for the kids.

As far as food, CP is very very good. Haven't found anything I didn't like on the buffet...oh except the mussels but then again I don't eat seafood! LOL

The pasta dish is very good, it has mushrooms in it and such, can't remember the name but it is very good. And of course the strip loin, very very good. I usually put some "gravy" on it and mmmmm, makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

The desserts are great too, if I remember right they had a tirmesu dish and it was heavenly!

Can't go wrong with CP you will love it.

Crystal Palace is heaven for a Pooh fan (one of my nephews is a huge Pooh guy, he gets anxious if he's going on a trip and he hasn't heard us mention it yet ).

Being a buffet, the menu can change slightly from week to week, but the food is pretty good and the characters are fun. We've always had good service there (go every trip for one meal or another, we even ask for Vinnie, our favorite waiter ).

If it's possible in your plans, get there early and check in. Make sure you tell the hostess about your celebration - Pooh and the rest will help you celebrate. This is a very popular place, and at 6pm it can take a while to get seated.

Our son is so excited about meeting Tigger....these are the moment I can't wait for!

DH and I did a late lunch there once and got to try the dinner items. The pulled pork is a must and try the mashed potatoes. Yum! Those are my top favs but everything was so good I didn't have room for dessert.

After eating here again this last trip, we won't be back.The food was nothing special, and in fact compared to other places we dined it was not good at all.It used to be better.The characters are great though

I agree that the characters were great, but the food was nothing to write home about. We are going back in September and have an ADR for breakfast at CP - we're hoping the breakfast is better than the dinner.

This is one of our don't miss places - for the food not the characters . I like the cold salads a lot - in fact, better than the hot foods. And I'm somewhat picky about restaurants.

Don't listen to us, decide for yourself. The best thing about a buffet is you can sample small amounts of whatever looks appetizing and they choose the ones you want to repeat.

Nothing from the dinner buffet is particularly memorable, but it's certainly acceptable. The draw at Crystal Palace for most people is the characters, not the food. Your son will love the opportunity to see Pooh and Tigger, and you won't leave hungry. Stick with basic dishes and you'll be fine.

I LOVE the slow roasted adobo pork. The garlic redskin smashed potatoes are really good too. I ate a plate filled with just those two things. I also enjoyed the soup (corn chowder) and salads.

I would never go back to CP for dinner. I would try it for breakfast since I loved the characters, but the dinner food was so over priced (over $30 for adults) for mediocre food. The bill with tax and tip was over $80. The only reason we went was because it was New Years Eve and we needed a sit down place for a meal in the park because you cant leave on NYE without risking not being let back in due to capacity on that day. For just $40 more the night before, we had a wonderful signature meal at Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge resort the night before, and we eat at signature restaurants every night of our trips, so I cant imagine spendin $80 for that food again on another trip unless it was NYE again. But for breakfast, where the food is pretty standard, I would be willing to pay since you get the characters and decent quality as far as breakfast is concerned.

We just took our son there for his birthday and it was great! We did breakfast and it was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had. The characters are really good with the kids, too. They celebrated my son's 5th birthday while there which made it even better. If they know, he'll get a cupcake and some decorations for the table. And the face on your son will be priceless.

The atmosphere and the characters at the Crystal Palace are awesome. Even the bathrooms there are really pretty. We've had both dinner and lunch there, and enjoyed the food very much. Last trip, the fresh carved flank steak with veal stock reduction gravy was the bomb!

Other than seeing the adorable characters, though, the best thing about having dinner there is that you don't have to rush around to get back to the MK for fireworks and Spectromagic. You just step outside, and you're where you'll want to be to see the night time shows.
