Does Crystal Light count as water towards my 8 glasses or more a day? I am addicted to drinking Coke and am looking at cutting back as it has caused me to gain weight. I need to lose the 18lbs. I have gained and wanted to see if this would help. Thanks in advance. :flower:

I'm not the expert but I'll take a shot at it.
I think it depends on who you ask.
Water is better for you far and away. But if you hate drinking water Crystal Light is definitely better than Coke (or other sugary sodas especially if weight loss is your goal). You might want to alternate drinking Crystal Light with water. And then each week or so try to dilute the Crystal Light a little bit more to get you used to drinking water. Propel or Fruit 2 O are also other options that you can try to get used to drinking water instead of soda. Believe it or not you might learn to really like water. I love it and I try to always have a bottle with me. However, I haven't noticed it numbing my appetite at all. :teeth:
Good luck! :flower:

I'm not much of a water drinker either but I'm trying to drink more. The flavored water is pretty good. Nestle puts out a good one. They have a few
different flavors. I like the strawberry & the rasberry. :earsgirl:

There is little question that water is water, whether that water comes from the tap, from soft drinks, or from fruits and vegetables. The differences are all a matter of (1) how readily you are willing to get your hydration one way versus another, and (2) what comes wrapped up with the water in your chosen method of hydration.

With regard to (1), clearly, if your predilections are such that you're going to only drink 2 cups of tap water per day versus 8 cups of Crystal Light, then hydration needs are best served by the latter.

With regard to (2), there are a whole set of considerations which depend specifically on where you're getting your hydration from. For example, Diet Coke contains other things in addition to water, such as caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic and therefore works against hydration. Crystal Light (powder) contains Aspartame, which is hazardous if consumed in outrageously large quantities, so that is a consideration. Our tap water, here in town, sometimes contains traces of dangerous chemicals, so even tap water has its detractions.

For me, (1) is an overriding consideration. The additives and accoutrements in my chosen means of hydration are manageable risks, but the fact that I don't drink enough to stay sufficiently hydrated, if I limit myself to tap water, is an incontrovertible risk. YMMV.

On Weight Watchers, any non-caffienated drink (even caffiene free diet coke, sprite, juice, etc.) counts toward your water. If it has calories, you would have to count those toward your points. Crystal lite would be a freebie.

I prefer plain water to Crystal Light but I think that drink counts as water.

Yes it does count towards your water consumption. But there are some flavors that have more calories than others so be sure to count those if you need to.
