My employer has been giving guidance for anyone traveling abroad and returning to the US for many years now. However, it is significantly more involved these days, and now includes specific guidance for preparing to re-enter the US.

Wow now I am scared to travel outside of United states too. Even though I am a citizen and if they would look thru my phone they would just see Disboards lmao 🤣 It's still invasive having your phone searched.

The parts about turning off your electronic device, Home Screen notifications, and FaceID to make it harder to access devices against your will when entering the US….

Economic uncertainty, rental prices not increasing and even shifting down, more discount packages being offered… I can’t see resale prices outpacing inflation this year. If they’re going beyond +/-10%, downward is much more likely than upward.

What do we think about 2026 dues increases? Last year:

Out of 17 resorts,10 were between 3.9%- 5.3%. I’d call 4% to 5% dues increase typical. I can't figure out if the ‘typical’ dues increase for 2026 will go higher or lower.

Please bring this back to DVC and off the topic of traveling abroad. Some posts are coming close to being not appropriate.

When/if we start to see BCV contracts not get gobbled up so quickly, it may be my sign to finally pick one up!
I am always on the lookout for a killer BCV deal but it seems there never are any! So I got BWV (for now lol)

I would also consider a great deal on a Poly resale or a steal on an SSR or maybe a CCV for SAP

I wonder if sentiments will actually encourage us citizens and residents to stick to travel within the United States and it will positively effect DVC. We're actually even more glad we bought DVC at this time because of our desire not to travel outside the US for the time being.

Most seem to be larger contracts. Not many smaller ones in my use year show very often. BWV seems to be a bit more available lately.

Good question. A lot of it is cost of labor and maintenance. If there is a flat 10% tariff on most imported goods then that will increase the cost of maintenance. (Furniture, Appliances, Finishings, linens, etc.)

Low unemployment would mean higher than avg wage increases and higher unemployment would mean lower than average wage increases…. I will offer no projections on this because what matters is what Disney will project….

I’m going to go guess in line with historical 5% increases or higher…..

I would expect to see more resale contracts on the market --- and therefore (slightly) lower prices
I agree with this simple statement. During economic uncertainty like this, one of the first things to likely be reduced is vacation time, and DVC purchases certainly fit in that category. Less people buying DVC, the more contracts sit - and prices decline. There could be more people who also cut back on vacation/recreation time who decide to sell because of it. I guess the only thing we know for certain is we really don't know for certain!

IIRC, the biggest impact to D.V.C. resale prices during the recession that started in 2008 wasn’t felt until around 2010 and 2011. Sometimes it takes a while.
The bottom in the market hit in early 2009 and employers didn’t start laying people off until later that year as they always start with a hiring freeze and reduced cap-ex first.

It’s probably not a surprise that the fire sale resale prices didn’t ramp up until 2010ish when there was complete financial capitulation and people mainly cared about not paying dues and not as much about price….

Just want to add one quick anecdote to all the travel worries if it might give a little comfort to some:

I was just in London and Marrakech a few weeks ago and although I am a natural born citizen, I’m the child of naturalized citizens from a hyper politicized region of the of the world, so I was definitely a bit worried flying back (there’s no connection that I’m aware of that would cause me issues for this reason alone, but in the day and age, everything is slightly worrying). My political and social standings are pretty obvious on social media and I don’t shy away from political discourse in my day to day life. So yea, could’ve been a prime target to get stopped but thankfully no issues at all. Customs at LAX was a breeze but I also have Global Entry so I wonder if that helped since no one actually looked through my passport to see all the stamps. I’ve also been lucky enough to travel to so many interesting and amazing places that could’ve also raised question if they really wanted so I’m hopeful the cases we’ve heard about are super rare and won’t be the norm.
