crying :( need some major hugs

awe come on. :sad2: She's like 16 or 17 years old and she was looking forward to a trip coming up this august. She was ready to make adrs when she found out she wasn't going. If I couldn't go on a trip I had planned, I would cry too and I'm a grown woman. :sad1: Her first reaction was sadness. When she gets over that, I'm sure she will talk to her grandparents.

You're right. Hers was a very typical teenage reaction where it's All About You. OP, if you have not already done so, please take a moment and think about how badly your grandparents feel that they had to cancel this trip. Circumstances must be pretty dire for them if they felt that they could not afford this trip. I'm sure they love you very much and the last thing that they would want to do would be to disappoint and hurt you.

But, as adults, it's our responsibility to make tough decisions like this. I would bet that they are just as disappointed and sad as you are that they cannot go this August. As a PP has suggested, please call them and commiserate together.

OK, I'll step off my Mom soapbox now and offer you a BIG HUG.:hug::hug::hug: I had to put off our WDW trip last year because my DH was so sick, so I know exactly how you feel. But since then, he's had a kidney transplant and is just about back to normal, so we're going this year instead.

Here's hoping that you can go next year for your senior trip. :thumbsup2

To the op, I'm so sorry you can't go. I know what it's like to have a trip cancelled so suddenly. This happened to me two summers ago. We were all set to go, and then my older sister got hurt in field training (for the Air Force). It was hard, but I had to learn that some things were more important. Your grandparents must love you so much! I bet they're taking it hard, too. :grouphug:

I really hope you get to go for your graduation! Maybe now you can start planning for it. Whenever you do get to go, your trip will be twice as magical. :wizard:

WOW...
I cannot believe how childish that post sounded....did you stamp your feet also!?
How totally selfish you are that all you could do was hang up and not offer them any sort of way to feel better about the fact that they Cannot! afford to go this year....Imagine how they felt.
WOW....is all I can say!
Agree 100%. How very sad for the grandparents...

Im sorry to say, I agree with ^.
The Economy is really taking a beating, i had to reduce my vacation from a full week to 3 days, And although i can kind of be upset, because we cannot do water parks or Animal Kingdom This year, But i guess im just happy that were going for the first time in two years.
Im 2 years younger than You Also, and if i acted this way, i would be thrown off of a building.
Spoiled Rotten...

I'm really sorry you can't go to WDW, I'm sure the time with your grandparents would have been great, but I think you need to look and see what you do have.

Your parents have the resources to take you on vacation to Colorado. Many people right now would be jumping all over that. It may not be your idea of a great vacation, but at least you get to go and experience something new.

Be thankful that you're healthy and you can get out and do things like travel to WDW or Colorado. Some of us are so sick that those things are just a dream.

Be glad you have a family that loves you and wants to take you places. Not everyone has that.

Be glad you still have grandparents that you can spend time with. Not everyone has that either. I'd give anything for one last day with mine.

I'm sure if you tried really hard, you could think up some other things.

I'd call your grandparents and apologize too. They are probably devastated already that y'all can't go and your hanging up on them didn't make it any easier.

oh nooooo!!! I would be so crushed too :sad1: I can definetly empathize.

I was lucky enough to go to disney twice while I was in high school (sophomore and junior year) and those were the first trips I had been since I was like, 6 years old! I loved it so much! My mom promised to take me back senior year, but plans fell through halfway through the year (and she then gave me a hundreds of dollars when I graduated......I would so rather have taken the trip!!!) :snooty:

Im going on January 2010! You can just hop on a plane and come with me!!!! :grouphug: :yay:

this is my first trip as an adult that I paid for and made happen all by myself!!!! I gotta say, there is so much satisfaction in making it there all on your own!

I'm not sure how much a hundreds of dollars is, but a Disney trip costs much more than that, and she probably gave you the money for college expenses.

While I understand how hard it is to want to go back to Disney, and not being able to afford it, think of all the kids that have never gone and will never be able to go. That puts it all into perspective for me.
