Hello everyone! I am new to this so pls forgive me if my lingo is off. My husband, me, and my two children (ages 3 & 5) are considering cruising on the Magic during the kids school vacation week (April 19-26 cruise). I was wondering if anyone has taken the cruise during a school vacation week before and what they thought about it. Some of my friends think I'm crazy because it will be so busy, but the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. Please let me know your thoughts and any advice. I haven't booked yet, but got the "OK" from my husband so I cannot wait. I hear that once you take a Disney Cruise, there is no turning back. Also, does anyone know if a Category 6 room is ok? Thank you for your help in advance.

Welcome to the DIS!

Congrats on planning your first cruise. If you are like us you'll want to go back again and again.

You have chosen a very expensive time of year to cruise. I'm guessing the week you have mentioned will cost $7,000+ in a Category 6. If there is any way you could adjust those dates, possibly sailing in early February or in May you'll save a LOT of money.

If you really need the verandah then a Cat. 6 is the way to go. There is a queen bed, a sofa that converts to a single bed and a drop down bunk over the sofa that makes the 4th bed (also a single). You will have a split bathroom which is actually two small rooms instead of one large. One will have a tub/shower & sink in it and the other has a sink & the toilet. This is very convenient if more than one person is getting ready at the same time.

Just as an FYI, the Category 8-10 cabins are all exactly the same size (and offer the same amenities) as the 6, just without the balcony. We tend to book a Category 9 (window) as we really didn't spend enough time on the verandah to warrant the $1000-2000 difference in price. Again, only you know what will make you happiest so book the cabin that you prefer.

Have fun planning!

Oh, and you'll probably get more replies if you post this on the main Cruise page, rather than the Trip Reports page.

Thanks for the response. I wasn't sure how to post to the main page but I will try it. I know it is pricey, but I just can't help myself!

We Just Got Back From Our First Disney Cruise. We Did A 3 Day Cuise To Test The Waters. It Was Great, W Eliked It So Much That We Booked Another Cruise While On Board. A Catagory 6 Will Be Fine For Your Family. My Family Is The Same Size. We Really Enjoyed Having The Varandah To Watch The Sun Rise Or Set From The Privacy Of Your Own Room.

You Defiently Will Enjoy Your Crise
