Crush's Coaster - Worth the wait ?

I went to Disney Studios last week. The Crush's Coaster was at 110 minutes pretty much all the time.

There were fastpasses for Carpets and Aerosmith. I got stuck on Aerosmith. After a ten minute wait we herded out the back, five minutes before the parade. I saw Woody without his head on , smoking a ***. Kinda destroyed some of the Disney Magic for me!

C'mon that would've made my holiday!

Shame on you for not taking any photos :lmao:

We queued for 1 1/2 hours last week for it. Kids (7 & 10) loved it, but werent prepared to queue a second time for it. We thought we were in the park early at 10.15?! on a different day to get on it with a shorter wait, but the queue was already over 2 hours at that stage!

I would do as the previous poster did, and be there way before opening and RUN!

Crush's Coaster is an amazing ride - if a little bit too short. The way to ride it is to whizz there as soon as the park opens and you will get on without too long a wait (so long as it doesn't break down). See my trip report for tactics!
I never wait more that half an hour for a ride and I have ridden Crush twice with a 10 minute wait each time. It can be done!

I was at WDS half hour before it opened, and still had to wait 1.5 hours before I got on. And I still don't know if I like the ride or not, it's a weird ride, it can best be compared with that strange Dino-ride at AK, but people who haven't been to WDW can't compare of course. I don't know how the ride is called, but you get in the vehicle (it's an outside ride) a,d then go up and down and spin around (as far as I can remember).

While I was waiting for Crush, I could only think: re-decorate those carpet-fp-machines, and use them for the fish. It would help a lot!

Apparently the reason it doesn't have FP's is because the ride doesn't have enough capacity. They would only be able to give out a very small amount and they'd be taken too quickly. It'd also make the standby line even longer.

The actual coaster part of the ride is very similar to Spinball Wizard at Alton Towers. So think of that in a dark building with a short Nemo dark-ride at the start.

Thanks everyone for the input, I think we'll play it by ear, if the queues are as awful as some of you've experienced we won't be trying it until the next, next visit. :)

is it like primeival whirl in WdW? (except indoors?) it looks and sounds like it..

yes, ive heard ppl say that before... i think its generally the same... will have to wait and see for myself lol!! woot 40 hrs i'll be there hehe :cool1:

I just got back today after being in the parks this past Friday. Since I only had one day to do both parks, I took my train from Bussy St. Georges to Disney early in the morning to walk around the hotels for a bit and then queue up early. I waited around until another person started to wait at the gates...I think it was about 9:10 or so. All of the "non-resort" guests had to wait at the first gate while the resort guests could start queueing at the turnstiles. Once they let us in around 9:20 to get to the main gate, I was third in line at my turnstile. They opened the gates at 9:30 and there was a brisk walk (read run-walk) to Crush. I was 16th person in line for the ride. I have to hand it to Disney as the CM's did a very good job of letting us go one little bit at a time so we never waited in the same spot too long. First at the turnstiles, then just before the beginning of the entrace to Crush, then slowly through to the actual building...then finally into the building and on the ride. I think I physically sat down in the turtle shell around exactly 10:00.

Feel free to guess the wait when I exited the ride at exactly 10:04.

110 MINUTES!!!!

(Highlight the text between my last sentence and this one to see the wait time)

I couldn't believe it. Although when you add it all up, I queued since 9:10 and got on the ride at 10:00, Disney didn't make it feel that way. I was more than happy to queue early to make sure I got on the ride. Would I wait in the Crush full queue for that long? Not a chance as it would eat up too much of my park time. But since I really didn't use up any of my 10:00-19:00 park time, it was worth it to me. The ride was fun but I wasn't blown away by it. I'd rather do laps on Indy/Rockin Roller Coaster than wait longer than 20-30 minutes for Crush during park time.

You are are joking !!!

Taken from the dlp.info forum this photo shows what happens when Crush breaks down and the queue has to leave the area.

No thanks !!!

i have just got back from 3 fantabulous days at DLP and i rode crush twice - once on monday and once yesterday (wednesday). the lines were relatively long by my standards - i dont wait usually any longer than about half hour for a ride ever (i just dont - its a personal rule of mine) and both times i i did actually wait a full half hour to get on (maily cos its a new ride and im wont be at DLP until 2009 at earliest again now:()
as for whether it was worth it, well, i can honestly say i liked the ride, but i WOULDNT have waited anylonger than i did for it. i waited half hour the first time, and thought it was worthy enough to wait half hour again the second time, but thats about all lol.
D.

Nice to see you back Dan and thanks for coming back and giving us your opinion on Crush, I think half an hour wait is reasonable for a new attraction, look forward to eharing about the rest of your trip. :goodvibes
