I know that there are way bigger problems in the world, but I am so disappointed because our annual trip has been cancelled (or postponed until next year)

For a variety of reasons we have had to bail on our annual January trip. Of course everyone is disappointed but I seem to be taking this the worst The husband thinks that I m being dramatic. I don't think he understands...

1-my annual dose of the World keeps me sane for the next 365 days :rotfl2::rotfl2:

2-It seems to be the only time that we connect as a family without any distractions i.e. baseball soccer work

3-Pure immersion in Disney Magic AAAAhhhhh

I knew other Dis people would get it lol
What should I do, stalk trip reports, the photo pages, watch online videos incessantly? Just venting...what a bummer. Oh well there are worse things in the world...Someday Boardwalk Someday....:lovestruc

I feel your pain. We have gone during Spring Break for 13 years. My husband lost his job and we couldn't take our trip in March of 2012. I was devastated! We don't live a lavish lifestyle and we take 1 vacation for a week per year. But as I write this to you, I am Disney right now! We skipped our annual trip, my husband got a new job with a week of vacation to use before the end of the year! I know it seems sad now, but, you never know what the future holds. Our annual Spring break was cancelled but we got a New Years Eve trip instead!

Sometimes i think planning the trip, is as much fun as taking the trip. Perhaps you can get your disney fix by planning your next trip?

I agree. I always have to be planning so I have something to look forward to and keep my mind off the real issues in life. Earlier today, I knew I was finally happy with my 2013 itinerary when I had to start messing with 2014 plans, just so I would have something to do. (Also kept my mind off of the troubles with this new website.) I was writing down 2014 dining plans at 5pm today and my DF was about to have me committed. It made me feel better to write down the things I would do then that I can't do on the next trip due to time, finances. DREAM ON! :cloud9:

I can completely relate. We were supposed to take our trip at the end of November this year. For various reasons we decided to cancel and although I knew it was the right thing to do, I was very sad that entire week. We would have been there for the New Fantasy Land opening. I kept hearing how perfect the weather, crowds, etc was. I'm worried that we missed the perfect opportunity. However, we are now working to see if we can go this next year and I'm hoping we will be able to pull it off!

Aww. We DO get it here. My DH also doesn't get what WDW does for me. To so many it is exhausting, but to me it is envigorating. You are away from everything and can't have any worries in WDW! PP is right in that so much of the fun is in the planning too!

We haven't gone since October 2010 and won't be back until next summer. It has been killing me! Finally we have the go ahead for summer, but are still working on dates for the extended family.

During the last two years, I've had to avoid the boards. It depressed me too much. Once you have the go ahead on a trip, then get back to it.

I hope you are able to get back soon.

I know just how you feel! Our trip for the spring next year was cancelled because of financial reasons :( Plus it doesn't help the my DH spoiled me with 2 surprise trips this past year. I "get my fix" by visiting the blogs and forums, planing fake trips, and looking at old pictures from past trips.

Just get a new DH :lmao:

Kidding.... Whatever your reason I am sure its valid. You will have to stalk trip reports...
it's sad but we have all been there.. strung out on youtube videos and trip reports...:rotfl:

OP I totally get it....WDW is my happy place and if I had to cancel it for any reason, I too would be devastated. Like the PP said, planning is half the fun, and fortunately for us, we always have a trip planned. The funny thing is, even though we have trips planned out for the next 2 years, I am always trying to find a way to squeeze in a getaway in between them :goodvibes.

We too had to cancel our annual trip last year because my dh was battling leukema. He lost his battle in September so all our future trips will be different.

So what should you do? Hug your loved ones, read the dis often and remember that Disney will be there when you are ready and that the real "magic" is right there in your home. Make the time to "connect" with your family every day. You don't need disney to do that. 15 minutes after practice is all it takes.

Happy new year and many more happy trips.

Pssst, it is a little bit disappointing isn't it. chin up

Hang in there! Time goes by so fast that before you know it you will have another trip in the making. BTW..I don't think you were being dramatic at all! I feel exactly the same...just knowing I have a Disney trip to look forward to gets me through the day to day craziness. The good thing is WDW isn't going any where and will be there waiting for you when the time is right! Keep Disney dreaming!

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for putting things into perspective for us. Sometimes we need to be reminded of the things we take for granted every day. Of course the most important things in life are the people we love. My sympathies to you.

:grouphug: I am so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you and your family...you all are in my prayers. You really did put things in perspective for the rest of us.

Not long after I had posted in this thread, I had gotten a call from my mother talking about my DSIL's Brother-in-Law who had just died tonight. His heart just stopped, they don't know how or why, but there will be an autopsy done to get some answers. He was 29 years old, and SIL's sister and BIL were only married for a year.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that :(. It stinks when much coveted trip is cancelled. My advice is to:

1- Live it up. Anyway you put it, there will be other trips.
2- Pretend you are in Disney! What I like to do is decorate my house to look like WDW and pretend we are taking a trip. It's a lot of fun, especially if your whole family does it with you.
3- SMILE!!! Nothing cures sadness more than a positive attitude. :)

After our first stay at WDW (WL), to my great surprise I was really depressed after, for at least 2-3 days I didn't even want to talk, I just felt extremely and utterly depressed. I think that I had felt that way because I didn't know when we would go back to stay at WDW and that just wrecked me. As soon as I started to plan another short stay, I had something to look forward to and it cheered me up. It means a lot to have something to look forward to, and I guess your DH doesn't feel the loss the same way you do, but that doesn't make it any less real to you.

I have so many Disney photos, I really need to figure out where I can post them online, I think there are a lot of people who would enjoy watching fireworks videos, and see all the photos I have. If anyone knows of a good hosting site that won't steal copyright...please let me know. :)

I totally understand. We usually go once a year, but we're holding off planning anything for 2013 because of the whole fiscal cliff thing. If the peeps in Washington don't get their stuff together & we fall off the "cliff", the gov. will be taking a good chunk out of our middle income salary. So we have to wait & see how it plays out & start cutting back where we can. Hopefully that won't include our home away from home, Disney, but we're just not sure yet.

In the meantime, we always have disboards!

I was following the Official April 2012 thread when we had to cancel our trip just a week or so before our arrival date. We rescheduled for April 2013 and then I started the Official April 2013 thread. :) Maybe you could start the thread for your next trip (or join the thread if it has already been started).
