CruisingCA is back to WISHing....

Beth: Thanks for posting in my journal. I would never be brave enough to walk into the kitchen for my drinks/food/etc. I wish I could become more vocal when I'm not satisfied with customer service, etc.

Exercise: Oh boy the Firm Body Sculpt with Jenn totally kicked my butt this morning. I can do the Cardio Sculpt & other cardio type exercises fairly easily now but this workout was tough.

Food: I strayed a bit today. We went to a birthday party & I had lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) and part of DD's piece of chocolate cake. Then I had a little macaroni salad. I've been trying to stay away from refined carbs and I've been doing good about it up to now. I just had to right it down in my journal so I can read it and won't continually slip up. Heck, there's nothing wrong with slipping up occasionally but I don't want to make a habit of it. Oh my. I almost forgot about the little snack sized twix caramel bar that I had.

Other Stuff: I didn't do laundry yesterday so I did 4 loads today. My biggest problem about laundry is I hate putting it away. Right now everythings sorted in little stacks and everyone has to put away their own clothes. DD's too young (she's 2 1/2) so I have to put her clothes away.

DH hurt his back trying to dry his feet after he took a shower. I think it was a combination of things...he went to the gym with me yesterday & did weights, then he played basketball with DS in his slippers (flip flops) instead of shoes, then I had him lift two 50 pound bags of sand. Anyway....his back is aching now.

DS started his summer league basketball today. He looked really good and even made 4 points. Most of the better players are the 9 year olds and he was keeping up with them and making plays even though he'll be 8 next month. At this level, one year can really make a difference with the boys' sizes & experience. Tomorrow he starts basketball camp so he'll be busy with that for the next 2 weeks instead of having his grandpa watch him. I'm so fortunate to have my in-laws watch my kids as much as they do. My mom lives in Hawaii so she only gets to see the kids 2-3 times a year. She visited us in May and won't get to see them again until we visit her in December. She'll be retiring in December so I'm sure she'll be able to visit more often.

That's a wrap for Sunday.

Weight Watchers I've joined WW online so I can track what I eat and my weight. Yah I've been also doing it here but now I'll also be counting points and activity points. I find their online tool very helpful and there are a lot of great resources.

The handy dandy scale: I weighed myself this morning on my new handy dandy digital scale and I'm 137.4 pounds. 12.4 more pounds to my goal & 6 more pounds for the labor day challenge. I really like the digital scale so I can weigh the kids easier. DD (who's 2 1/2) weighed in at 29.8 pounds and DS (almost 8) is 53.4 pounds.

Food: So far, nothing out of the ordinary today. Oatmeal and a hard boiled egg for breakfast. Dannon Carb Control peach yogurt for snack. Spinach, chicken, whole wheat tortilla, and grapes for lunch.

Exercise: I'm not able to go to the Cardio Kick class today because I was sent to another work location because of an "emergency". I will do an exercise tape (or two) at home later tonight.

Hey, Rae Ann. I see you joined WW online afterall. I really like it so far. It is the first program I feel I can stick to. I have not felt deprived at all. I really like some of the Smart Ones meals and especially the desserts. YUM! From what I have read in your journal, you should lose that 12 lbs. and be to your goal in no time. Especially w/the help of WW. It is nice to see that someone else who is new to this is also doing WW online. You will have to let me know what you think of it. :)

Tasha: So far I really like WW online. It's easy for me to track my points at home & at work because everything's on the web. I've also taken a look at their Community/message boards. They have so many different forums, there are several there that interest me. You know if it weren't for activity points, I'd probably be dipping into my flex points EVERY day. I don't know HOW I could possibly stick to 20 points a day.

Weight Watchers (WW): Yesterday I traded 1 activity point (I used 21 points total). I don't think I'm getting enough milk products in my diet. I usually only have 2 servings instead of the recommended 3. Today I've already used 16.5 points but I've earned 6 activity points so I'll technically have 9.5 points left to use today (I haven't eaten dinner yet). Yikes.....1 of my favorite types of frozen burritos (Roasted Vegetables & Cheese Burritos by Cedarlane) are 7 points!

Exercise: Last night I did the FIRM Cardio Sculpt tape. It was a great workout but I didn't get a good night's rest last night because I worked out so late. Today I went to the Interval Training class at work. My coworker who just started at the gym was telling me that I had a healthy glow after working out while she was sweating like a pig. I think I'm getting used to exercising and I enjoy cardio workouts and my muscles are getting used to the light weight training. I later did a short pilates workout and a short yoga workout at home. I'm also having some progress with the yoga - I can finally put my heels down when I'm doing downward dog.

Other stuff: I have 2 potlucks to go to this week. I'm supposed to bring a cake to one and dessert to the other. Maybe I'll save up my flex points for those two events. I really have a hard time on weekends because of all our eating out and parties that we go to. I'll have to check out the weight watchers' recipes and find a few dishes that I like. I'm still trying to stay away from refined carbs like white flour, etc. I've got a lot to learn.....

I don't know if I could eat only 20 pts. a day either. :earseek: I get 28 pts. a day, but I have a lot more to lose than you. Sounds like the exercise pts. are really helping you, which is great.

Tasha: I guess we're online at the same time! I was just posting to your journal!! LOL Anyway, since I've posted last, DH brought me a surprise gift. 5 pound dumbbells!! He was so sweet, he even bought my DS some 1 pound dumbbells because she likes to "exercise" with me. It's great to have a husband who supports my WISHing lifestyle.

Hi Rae Ann...I just read through your journal and WOW!!! You are on a roll!! And you are so organized...that's so impressive! Reading your journal is reminding me that I need to get off my butt and get in my exercise for today! Good luck with your continued success!

Gail

4 complete weeks of WISHing!! I feel a lot better than when I started, I'm looking better, and I'm actually excited about exercising. I've lost 5.5 pounds so far.

Exercise: I went to the yoga class at work today. A lot of my muscles are still tight (my lower back muscles, hamstrings, etc.) so I can't do all of the poses yet. I'm slowly getting better. I really need to find a sticky mat that works. My hands & feet get sweaty after a while then my arms & legs start to slip. 1 hour of yoga = 2 activity points. If I do any other exercise tonight it will either be yoga or pilates. I don't want to do any cardio or weight training today.

Weight Watchers: So far I've eaten 13 points for breakfast, morning snack, & lunch. Those 23 tamari almonds I ate are 4 points!! We're probably going to dinner tonight.

I've decided to make a pina colada cake for potluck #1.

Hey, Rae Ann, yeah, I noticed we were online at the same time last night too. But I got off before I was able to read your last post. That was really sweet that your dh got you those dumbbells. I know what you mean about it being nice to have his support. Dh supports me too, and it does make it much easier. I couldn't do it w/o his support and all of you fellow WISHers. Congrats on the 5.5 weight loss. You are doing so well! You will reach your goal in no time. ::yes::

Food: Oh boy I've been doing some eating......

Last night we went out to dinner. I tried to eat sensibly and ate a cabbage salad, cooked spinach, some soybeans, fish, and some chicken. That wasn't too bad but then I decided to have a "treat" after. I wanted a Chai Tea but accidentally asked the waitress for a Thai Tea. Well I had to dip into my flex points last night because 1 hour of yoga only equals 2 activity points.

Today for lunch I went the the potluck. I ate pretty well again except for the small piece of lasagna. But since I made a cake, I HAD to try a piece. Another one of my coworkers made some cookies and I tried one of those. Oh my. I guess my body is not used to digesting all those refined carbs anymore. I felt awful in the afternoon. Next time I feel the urge to eat some baked goods, I'll just take a bite or two.

Exercise: I exercised a lot today. For some reason, I woke up 1 1/2 hours earlier than usual so I did the 30 minute Firm Body Sculpt Blaster before the kids woke up. Then I WATCHED....my new Winsor Pilates DVD. The 20 minute dvd looks similar to the Pilates for Dummies tape so I think I'll do okay with it. After work, I picked up DS from his basketball camp. He got an award for being "Most Improved" in his age bracket. Yay!! When we got home, I was still feeling a bit sluggish so I did the 20 minute Taebo Flex Express dvd. I got online & started figuring out my WW points. Oh no...I decided to exercise a bit more to get more Activity Points for the day. I did the Firm Cardio Sculpt. That's one of my favorite Firm dvds. So now I don't have to dip into Flex Points for today. I know it seems like a lot of exercise but it didn't seem too bad since it was spaced out. Tomorrow we don't have any classes offered at the gym at work so I'll try to do the Body Sculpt Blaster (30 minutes) again but this time pair it up with a longer session of either yoga or pilates. I don't want to do too much cardio/weight training on consecutive days.

Tasha & Gail: Thanks for posting in my journal. I love reading your encouraging posts!

Tasha: I'm going to do my first :sunny: day. Today I would give myself 3 :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: . Too many refined carbs (the cake & the cookie) made for a drowsy afternoon of feeling blah.

Rae Ann, you should have given yourself :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: b/c you may have dipped into your flex pts. but you realized that your body doesn't do well w/ all of the refined stuff anymore. You also worked your butt off to keep from using your flex pts. again today. I think you are doing really well. You deserve to eat a piece of cake every now and then.

I can't believe I forgot to post yesterday.

This morning I went to 24 hour fitness & attended the Step 2 class. The instructor just went to a fitness convention in Vegas and taught us a new routine today. Wow! That was a tough workout.

Today we have another potluck. I'll try to behave myself today though.

I had a whole post typed out last night but when I tried to submit my post, there was an error on the server & my whole post was gone. I don't think I can remember everything that I tried to post last night but I'll try.

I weighed myself & I've lost 1.8 pounds since last week Monday. I think most of that was water weight gain from PMSing.

I had another blah day yesterday that I blame on Aunt Flo. I just started taking medication to make AF more bearable but this time around it's worse! I took the day off yesterday 'cause I was feeling bad & it's a good thing that I did, I spotted through 3 times yesterday. :headache:

I did well yesterday. I stayed within my allotted WW points and didn't have to use any activity points. The only exercise I did yesterday was the FIRM ab sculpt video. I didn't even feel like doing that but my DD (she's 2 1/2) brought me a FIRM dvd & said, "Mommy, you exercise with me." She doesn't really exercise, she tries to copy a few of the movements, but I didn't want to let her down so I chose the 20 minute ab workout instead. Most of the time she spent laying down on the floor watching the tv while I was working out. I would have done that too if I had the abs of a two year old.

Congrats for staying OP w/WW even though you haven't felt well. I know when TOM is here for me that all I want to do is eat...so you did a great job!

Rae Ann, your daughter sounds absolutely precious! Good job getting that workout done inspite of not feeling well. You're doing great! ::yes::

Michelle, Tasha & Wilderness: Thank you so much for posting in my journal. It's nice to know that my WISH buddies are supporting me even though I haven't been posting much in the past few days. LOL - My daughter can be a little hellion at times but she sure makes life interesting. Everytime she says she wants to exercise with me it makes me feel good to know that she wants to copy mommy's active lifestyle.

I've had my ups & downs this week but I'm back on plan & I did my exercise yesterday after taking off a day. I'll just focus on the positives in my post today.

Exercise Yay! I got my new yoga mat in the mail. It's made out of rubber (rather than plastic) and it's supposed to be one of the best ones to keep from slipping. I'll try it out tonight.

Yesterday I tried the WATP (Walk Away the Pounds) video that I see so many WISHers doing. I think it's a great way to exercise for beginners but I started to get bored with it so I started modifying the exercises to make the workout more intense. After 2 miles with WATP, I did FIRM Body Sculpt Blaster.

Eating WW style Yesterday I went to a retirement luncheon. I ate a lot of salad, 1 piece of garlic bread, and a small piece of lasagna. Mmmmmmmmm. After counting my activity points, I only had to use 1 flex point for the day. I have 31 more flex points until my weigh in on Monday. I try my best not to use flex points during the week because we do eat out more on the weekend. I have never used all my flex points yet, I usually end up with 20-something FPs left.

Other Stuff: My sister called me yesterday with some news. She and my mother are possible matches for someone who needs bone marrow. Both of them registered with the bone marrow registry a few years ago when a girl in their area needed to have a bone marrow transplant because of leukemia. My sister doesn't know if she can be a donor because she just had her spleen removed last year. She's going to talk it over with her doctor to see if it's okay (if the further tests come back as a match). If it were me, I'd do it without hesitation. My mother also told me that she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she knew that she could have saved someone's life and she didn't do it. I hope that one of them will be able to help.

Good job Rae Ann! It sounds like you are doing great with your meals, even when you aren't at home and not exactly in control of the menu, you made good choices. ::yes:: That's great that you have so many flex points left to use. I think you are wise to save them for those times you really need them. You're doing great. :)

I will keep your mom, sister and possible recipient of the bone marrow in my prayers. I hope everything works out for the best for all of them. :)

Glad you are feeling better today, Rae Ann. I am also glad you finally got your new yoga mat. Maybe you won't feel like you are slipping anymore when you start to sweat. As for your mom and sister, I think they are both wonderful to volunteer to be a donor. I know that if they do get selected to donate, that they will make someone's life a lot longer and richer.

Dinner: I made spaghetti for DH & the kids tonight. I ate some salad, spaghetti sauce (no noodles for me), and a whole wheat tortilla for dinner. I really feel like a snack now. I'll go drink a glass of water and if I'm REALLY hungry, I'll have some sugar free jello. Uggh. Sometimes I feel burnt out on my diet snacks.

Exercise: When I got home from work I really didn't want to exercise. I've been so lazy this week. I didn't try out the new yoga mat yet, I thought I should do some cardio instead. I did one of my Taebo dvds.

Okay, I'm sleepy. That's enough for tonight.
