Cruising, Wining, and Disney Dining - Two 2012 PTRs in One! **TR LINK UP**

So exciting you added another night!! I wish we could stay a day or two longer, but its just not possible with the kids being in school. We really dont like to pull them out much. I am waiting to see their school schedule for next year, and depending on when they get out for Christmas break, we may try and add a day at the beginning. Unfortunately, they wont get that until March.

I went to Biergarten...long ago. But I remember it being so much fun. Then again, both of my grandparents were born in Germany, so it holds a special place to me.

Great job on your saving more than $500 in your trip fund jar!! :cool1: Awesome job!!

I cant believe ADR dates are just around the corner (mine is late April)...and
your cruise is so close!!

You are waiting on Jetblue, we are patiently waiting on SW. Ugh...I hate waiting!!

It's going to be a shock to my system when I have kids and have to go to WDW at the same time as everyone else. :scared1: Horrors! :rotfl2: Hope you can add on a day or two to your Christmas trip!

Biergarten is yummy. 2010 was the first time I tried it and I'm definitely looking forward to going back. This time I'm order a beer in one of those huge steins. I was the only one in our group that didn't get one last time!

Our ADR dates are going to sneak up on us. Can you believe it's almost the end of January already??

If the price is right, I was thinking of flying SW out of Philly. The drive is a little longer but depending on the price it may be worth it. They need to hurry it up before I cave and buy my airfare from Continental just because I can.

Exactly 8 months from today I'll be in Walt Disney World!

I just bought Newsies tickets and I'm super excited. I love that movie (a young Christian Bale? ) and it's only a 12 week run on Broadway so I snatched up tickets asap. I'll be going with my friend Annemarie on April 22. I can't wait! I like having little things to look forward to, breaks up the Disney wait a little bit. :goodvibes

On to the Day 3 Plans!

Day 3 - 10/2/12

Today we'll be going to Animal Kingdom! This is another day where we'll probably sleep in. I don't see the point in AK rope drop. I don't stay at this park for a full day; I don't think there is much to do. It's a wonder we're even going here because Kris doesn't like this park. He thinks it's boring. But I can't miss out on one of my favorite rides - Everest! That's probably where we'll head to first and on the way we'll get an FP for Kilamanjaro Safari. I'd like to see the FOTLK show if we have some time and we'll do Bug's Life, Dinosaur, and maybe Kali River Rapids if we're feeling it. We'll probably walk through the trails and end up skipping Rafiki's Planet Watch. Will that even still be open when we go? Aren't they supposed to be turning that into Avatarland? I'd like to take a walk through Camp Minnie Mickey to what characters are out and snap some pictures. I almost always end up leaving this park during the parade which makes it impossible to walk through. Worst parade route ever!

I don't know what we'll do for lunch. Either CS or TS, it's up in the air. I have Landry's gift cards out the wazoo thanks to MyPoints and they can be used at Rainforest Cafe and Yak & Yeti. Game time decision for that!

I'm guessing we'll get back to the hotel around 5. I'm hoping we'll have time for a quick swim before we have to get ready for dinner. Tonight we're going to Boma! I've heard a lot of great things about this restaurant and have always wanted to go there but couldn't justify the trek out to AKL just for that. So since we're staying there, I finally have my opportunity to go! Kris is not excited about this. At all. He is a chicken fingers/pasta/burger kind of guy and he looked at the menu like 'what is this stuff??' I have a feeling he'll be the 32 year old sticking out like a sore thumb at the kid's buffet. :rotfl: This may not be a good day overall for Kris!

After Boma, I want to check out the Victoria Falls Lounge and get some after dinner drinks and explore the resort some more. Then it's off to sleep to get ready for Day 4! :)

243 days to go - 136 til the cruise!

Ha! My DH loves AK... he loves getting immersed in the atmosphere, though. He likes it much better than the other parks. That being said, we have spent a couple of half days there, but never from opening until closing. I like doing a couple of half days just so I can ride the E-ticket attractions with little wait.

I think Kris will be okay at Boma! The great thing about buffets is that he can see the food before it goes on his plate. It's not like Jiko where he is trying to order from a description!

He can always eat off of the kid's buffet section. Maybe they have some basic, all-American fare?

I like AK but it is my least favorite Disney park. I don't think there is enough to do for a full day and I can't imagine going there twice in one trip. That will probably change after Avatarland is built but to be honest, I'm not exactly excited for that either! I do look forward to AK days though cause I know I'll have half the day for resort and pool time ;)

I think the menu for Boma listed chicken fingers and spaghetti as part of the buffet. That's what Kris will be eating.

I've been off DIS for the whole week. It's been incredibly slow for me no matter where I log in from. It's like dial up! The pages take 5 minutes to load. Today is the first day that it has worked normally. What is going on??

Anyway, this update more for myself really so I can keep track of what is owed on my vacation. I'll update it periodically. I have two ING accounts - the Disney Fund which is primarily my spending money for both the cruise and Walt Disney World; I also have an ING checking account that goes toward paying for the actual trip itself. I've made quite a few deposits to the Disney Fund lately and it's up to $614.55. :goodvibes My goal is $1750.

Now onto what I owe for our actual trip - DCL is not a factor because it's been paid off for months! :) This is my share - Kris started his own fund! :goodvibes

$310.20 - due to our DVC member for point rental by August 1
$258.50 - 5 day Base ticket - I can get two 2 Day Park Hopper & Water Park tickets for free since I'm a TA so we'll use those for our hopping days & BB/TL visits.
$412.32 - DDP for 8 nights due 48 hours prior to arrival
$250 - estimated airfare cost

Total - $1,231.02
ING Checking - $369.03
Remaining Amount Due - $861.99

We also have some Disney gift cards we're saving - $155 worth so far. I'm thinking we'll apply that to the DDP since that's the most expensive thing and split the difference. :thumbsup2

It helps to be organized :)

Any fun plans this weekend? I was off yesterday and saw the Woman in Black with my sister. It was creepy but since it was Daniel Radcliffe I couldn't take it 100% seriously. I kept expecting him to yell out a spell or introduce himself as Harry Potter. It was weird to see him in a different movie. Today I'm at work and not really doing much tonight. Tomorrow is Super Bowl! Kris is doing his own thing with the guys - they're going to Atlantic City to watch the game and staying overnight. My friend Katie is having a party so I'll be headed over there. The Rangers play at 1 so it's a total sports day for me on Sunday! If I win any money from the football pool, it's going right to the fund!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

We saw Woman in Black this weekend as well. We thought Daniel Radcliffe did pretty well! I got over the HP thing a few minutes, in though. Have you seen "Wild Target" with Rupert Grint? I thought he was great in that movie, and who doesn't love Emily Blunt and Bill Nighy (Scrimgeour)? You should check it out... it is on Netflix instant view.

I thought he did a great job as well but he'll always be Harry Potter to me! Just like the other actors will always be Hermione and Ron :) I've never heard of Wild Target. What is it about? Maybe I'll check it out.

I hope everyone had a good weekend! Yesterday I watched the Rangers game in the afternoon; they won & then the Giants won the Super Bowl! Good weekend for NY sports :)

Now - Day 4 in Disney!

This is another sleep in day. I wanted to make sure we had plenty of those because in 2010 we had none. Needless to say, we were exhausted by the end of that trip!

Today is going to be a really laid back day because it's a waterpark day. We're planning on visiting both so I'm not sure which one we'll go to first. I've been to Typhoon Lagoon twice but never Blizzard Beach. Kris hasn't been to either so I told him he could pick which one we went to first.

Has anyone ever been on Summit Plummet? I've heard bathing suit horror stories about this slide. :scared1:  I may need to buy a new swimsuit specifically for this waterpark. Any excuse to go shopping right? ;) I don't want to give anybody a show! :rotfl:

After the waterpark, we'll probably hang around AKL for awhile, maybe grab a drink by the pool. Then it's off to dinner at Ohana! Kris and I love this restaurant and I'm really looking forward to going there again. Kris said he's not going to eat all day so he can fill himself up on noodles. They give you SO much food! And I have to order a Lapu Lapu of course. ;)

No parks this day! After dinner maybe we'll take a walk around the Poly. I absolutely love that resort.

That's Day 4!

236 days to go!
129 til we're cruising!
56 til ADR day! (can you believe it??)

It's a comedy about a hit man. Emily Blunt is hit target, and she plays this kooky/quirky girl. Ron Weasley is his apprentice of sorts.

Ohana is amazing! I am glad you are both excited for it. I don't drink, so I haven't ordered the Lapu Lapu, but I really want to drink from a pineapple! Maybe I will have to buy one, hollow it out and fill it with Diet Coke.

Maybe you could ask for the pineapple and have them fill it with juice sans the alcohol? Pineapple, orange, and cranberry juice is a yummy combo :thumbsup2

We added 2 more days to the beginning of our Dec trip in hopes for MVMCP dates to work out...yea!

I went to BB and went on Summit Plummet LONG ago...way back in 1997. It was SOOOOO much fun! I do remember seeing several swimsuit malfunctions when we were there. With that said, it was super fun!! Love BB. The theming is cute.

After the waterpark, we'll probably hang around AKL for awhile, maybe grab a drink by the pool. Then it's off to dinner at Ohana! Yay for adding a couple days to your December trip!

I'm a JetBlue stalker myself :rotfl: I'm betting their fares probably won't be released until the beginning of next month. I read that 4 months and 6-8 weeks before your vacation is the best time to buy airfare. I hate playing the waiting game.

I was looking at swimsuits on the VS website and saw some cute tankinis. Maybe I'll get that for the BB day to avoid any swimsuit malfunctions.

Hello... I haven't been on the DIS in awhile but am hoping to get caught back up!

For some reason I thought the F&W dates had been released long ago but I guess I was mistaken!

Aw I loooove ak! But it's also a nice half day park for us too. Im one of those select few that absolutely loves Dinosaur. And I love Rafikis planet watch, I had no idea they are planning on using that space for avatarland? Where did you hear that? I'm a sucker for petting zoos hahaha.

Have you eaten at yak & yeti? I love it! Definitely a fantastic addition to ak. I'd suggest eating there since you'll have the gift cards. They have really yummy drinks and the fried wonton dessert is so delish.

This day sounds wonderful to me, though we do like to get there at rope drop just because we can do everything, including one or two shows, by lunch if we do. But you jus t want to b back by 5 so you'll still have a nice leisurely day! Dinner at Boma will be fantastic! I think your bf will be pleasantly surprised, and your after dinner plan for Victoria falls shoulde great too! Maybe you can go outside around 9 to do the night vision animal viewing!

Has jet blue given the opening dates yet? FYI southwest is saying feb 20th for flights released! So excited!

Hello... I haven't been on the DIS in awhile but am hoping to get caught back up!

For some reason I thought the F&W dates had been released long ago but I guess I was mistaken!

Welcome back! ;)

Maybe since they're around the same time every year people were speculating what the dates were? :confused3 I just happened to see it one day when I logged into the DIS. I thought it was kind of early for the dates!

People are speculating that RPW is going to be used for Avatarland. It's just a rumor now, I think I read it somewhere on these boards when it was first announced.

I'm with ya on Dinosaur, I love it too! Best ride photo in WDW if you ask me.

Yes, I've been to Yak & Yeti before but that was after it first opened so it was awhile ago. We'll probably be returning. I'd rather use one of the gift cards there than Rainforest. We have one of those about 10 miles away so it's not a big draw for us.

I'm really looking forward to Boma. It is definitely going to be a brand new experience for us. Good idea about the night watching! I hadn't thought of that. :thumbsup2

Jet Blue has kept mum on when they're releasing their fares. All they keep saying is that TrueBlue members will get an email about it when they do. Based on the past couple years, I'm thinking they'll be out by the last week of Feb/first week of March.

Hi everyone!

Can you believe February is half over?? I thought winter was going to crawl by but it's flying. Does anyone have any plans for Valentine's Day? Kris and I are keeping it low-key - dinner tomorrow night (he won't tell me where we're going) & then we're going to try to make chocolate & peanut butter fondue for dessert at home. I have a fondue pot that I got years ago and I've only used it once. Hope it turns out okay!

A couple of my friends and I went to the Rangers game last Thursday night. They played the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Rangers won! It was a great game and it ended up going into OT. We had a blast. I love going to games and I absolutely love Madison Square Garden. There's such an electricity to the building, I can't describe it. If you've never been, GO! Here's a picture of the three of us after the game:

On to my day 5 plans!

Day 5 - 10/4/12

Today is DHS day! I was never a huge fan of DHS and it was always my least favorite park but it's grown on me over the past couple visits. We'll be up bright and early to get to TSM first thing in the morning. Last time we got there late and ended up having to wait a looooong time to ride because it kept breaking down. We missed a lunch ADR because of it. I want to avoid that this year! I definitely want to try to get in a couple rides on ToT and the RnRC. Last year the RnRC was down all day until we were about to leave & then the wait was over an hour so we never got to ride it. Hoping to make up for that this trip!

Since Lightning McQueen was added to the LMA show, I'd like to see it. We saw Indy last trip and I'm not really interested in seeing it again but Kris is a huge Indy fan so I may have to compromise on that one ;) Star Tours is a must because it was down for refurb last visit. I'd also like to visit the Art of Animation building & attend one of the drawing classes. Kris didn't see it last time and I think he'll like it. He wants to do the backlot tour again but it puts me to sleep. I've been mad at that ride ever since they did away with the Golden Girls house. :rotfl: Lunch will most likely be at Pizza Planet :)

We plan on spending all day here because for dinner I want to book the Fantasmic package. I haven't seen Fantasmic since...2008? I saw part of the one at Disneyland last year but I don't think that counts! I think we're going to go with Mama Melrose for the package. It doesn't get stellar reviews but I've read Hollywood & Vine is only decent for breakfast so I'm going with the lesser of two evils. Any feedback on these places? Also, when you go to the show, how early should you be there since it's priority seating? Do they give you a voucher or something? Never done the Fantasmic package before!

So that's day 5! 229 days to go. 49 til I can make ADRs! :yay:

PS - I was looking on VS and found some cute tankinis that are on sale. I'm probably going to purchase one soon. Summit Plummet approved :thumbsup2

Hey Jenny! So glad the Rangers won at the game you went to! They were awesome this weekend!! Although...please remove yourself from my man. Thank you. :rotfl::rotfl:
I like DHS but we never seem to spend a lot of time there. Not sure how the Fantasmic package works-- but I've heard the same about H&V's dinner buffet not being great. Also not a fan of the Backlot Tour-- the most interesting part for me was passing through the costume shop area, but no more Golden Girls house is inexcusable!! Especially with how popular Betty White has gotten again, I bet they wish they kept it!

Hi!
Right after I took that picture a girl walked by and said 'I feel exactly the same way.' :rotfl2: I was disappointed that Lundqvist didn't play during the game I was at but they won so no biggie! Everytime he skated out to the bench sans helmet, I kept saying 'Hello lover' ala Carrie Bradshaw.
From what I've been reading, I don't know if the FP package is worth it. It seems like if you don't get there early enough, they're just going to give your seats away anyway. Maybe we'll go to 50's PrimeTime instead - at least I know the food is good there. I'll have to talk to Kris!
Let's start a 'Bring Back the Golden Girls House' petition!
