Cruising The Canal May 1, 2015 (Roll Call in Post 1)

We would really like to book this cruise. So, I've been lurking on this thread. We would also like to go to Disneyland after the cruise.

I looked up Hatbox Ghost, as I had no idea what it was either. Apparently, it is a character that was part of the original Haunted Mansion. At one of the D23 conferences, a new version appeared. I think they are trying to put it back into Haunted Mansion before the 60th celebration.

Hopefully, we will be able to join you on this cruise!

I didn't know who - or what - the Hatbox Ghost was so I am grateful for the information. Hope you can join us on the cruise :goodvibes

Oliver was the Hatbox Ghost for Halloween (see user pic), so he is very excited! I'm not sworn to secrecy so I can talk openly about all the rumors! We are at Disneyland now (waiting in line at DCA to meet Anna and Elsa). We always keep our ears open!

So I was doing some snooping around on the DCL website and noticed they dropped the price of the OGT rate. Also the only balcony rooms left at the time were the Navigator verandas.

I seem to remember previously being told we couldn't upgrade to an OGT rate - not sure for what reason, maybe because of booking through a TA or it being an onboard discounted booking :confused3

OGT, or any guarantee rate, are for new bookings only. If you want to take advantage of of the rate you have to cancel, take the penalty, then rebook. As of now the penalty is the deposit. So if you don't mind losing that and can still save a good chunk of change you might want to think about it.

Oh, that explains it - that would be why. I knew there was a reason. I'm such an amateur at all this

Before the latest OGT drop, there were many veranda rooms available in multiple categories. At the same time as the OGT drop, all of the verandas disappeared with only 7A and 4E available. Then, all verandas disappeared. Now, I will occasionally see a category pop up and disappear.

I started another thread about this, but wondering if anyone has any guesses as to what is going on with the veranda categories. It seems unlikely that all of those rooms suddenly became unavailable.

I'm hoping they're saving one for me. Ha ha.

Oooh, this new board will take a bit of getting used to.:scratchin But it seemed to have gone well so far.

Yes, I am having a little difficulty with things like quoting messages and inserting smileys (for some reason they go to the front of what I've typed and then I have to cut and paste where I want them). Like you say, it will take some getting used to. I hope we don't lose people because of it - lots of people struggle with change and prefer the familiar (I am one of those people admittedly).

I don't like change either but you have to keep up with technology's vast speed I guess. The board looks nice and professional though. I need to get an avatar somehow.

I couldn't use any of my own pictures. It keeps saying they are too big. Anyone know how to change it?

This new board recognizes me but I can't find any of my posts. Not sure where they went. Still trying to figure out how to find a new avatar. EEEk!

This is an exciting time now. The last push before the cruise is upon us. I managed to get half of our first choice excursions. Couldn't get one because pricing wasn't available. Never seen that before. But I still feel so disorganized and little time to prepare. I guess we're going to be winging this one more than normal.

We decided to hit Disneyland after the cruise. Probably won't be back to California for a long time so we wanted to fit that in. :) Shame that the 60th celebration starts the week after we're there. I wonder if that means the numbers will be down at all?

Hi May Canal Cruisers!
We are finally joining the group! I will be cruising with 2 of my 3 sons (ages 12 and 10), my sister, and my in-laws. We had the trip planned, but I really thought it would never happen. Now, chances look great. My name is Karen, and our cabin is #6616. My sons are Braden and Cannon. Please add us to the roll call.

I have been watching this thread for a while now. I wanted to say hello! We are not officially booked yet. We want an inside room and we are holding out in hope of an IGT rate like they have done the past few years. We have our hotel rooms booked in Miami, our airfare booked to Miami (we can change it if we have to) and live in San Diego, our work time is off, our kiddos preschool is on alert, so we are all set...we just need the IGT rate. It seems like this is the closest year so far to the sail date that an IGT has not been released. We have our fingers and our toes crossed that we will be joining you...or maybe they will offer a travel agent discount last minute, since I have my IATA, that would work too.

I just want to tell you that last year's WBPC cruise was the best cruise we have ever had. I hope to do it again some day. Have a great time, you lucky people!
Bobbi
