Hi!
We are considering using our points for a cruise in 2009 or 2010. Upon reading throught that section of the handbook, I noticed that you can not book or stay at a Disney Collection property (or cruise ship) 4 months prior to your use year date. :confused3 Is that true? If my use year is August, I can't cruise on points in June? I certainly hope that I am just misunderstanding.

Thanks for any insight!

Don't worry. It's what Disney calls the Rule of Four. All it means is that you can't make the reservation AND travel in the last four months of your use year. If you make it a year in advance and it's during the last four months, you are fine.

Here's the exact wording from the web site:

"Reminder: Rule of Four
You cannot book and travel on The Disney Collection, (excluding Disneyland© Resort Hotels in California), Concierge Collection and Adventurer Collection vacations within the last 4 months of your Use Year. However, you can travel in the last 4 months of your Use Year as long as you've booked your stay more than 4 months before the end of your Use Year.:

Have a great cruise.

Thank you HBC!

Ya know, I read it and wondered if that is what it meant. We would definitely book well before the 4 month mark. Thanks for the clarification.

Booking Disney Collection is basically trading your points outside the DVC system. DVC needs enough time to sell your DVC resort time you are now not using.
