Cruising from New Orleans

Delta just changed our nice 12:00 flight to a 2:00 flight. How far is the port to the airport? Is there anything we can do with 7 people (2 toddlers) other than sit at the airport for all those hours? Thanks!

It’s only about 30 min. from port to airport.

The port is attached to the Riverwalk, which is a long mall facing the Mississippi River. It has some touristy stuff in it. Candy stores, fudge making, toys, etc.

At the other end of Riverwalk is the Audubon Aquarium, which is a nice way to kill a few hours. Not sure what you’d do with your luggage in the interim. The Aquarium *might* have a coat- or baggage-check, but definitely call ahead to confirm if you want to go that route.

There is nothing to do around the airport. If you have Delta SkyClub access or PriorityPass, those are open and they are nice lounges, but there’s nothing in the airport particularly toddler-friendly.

Agreed. MSY is one of the less entertaining airports in the US. For something specific, you should grab lunch before heading to the airport. I would suggest walking the 2-3 blocks up Poydras from the Hilton (Riverside) and go to Mothers for lunch. It may not look fancy online but it is some of the best comfort food in the city. Especially the Po-Boys.

Thank you both! I'll check into your suggestions. I'd prefer not to go to the airport so we'll have to figure our what to do with our luggage.
